Meet Ethan "Echo" Wainwright, the youngest member of Ghost Team and a hardcore fighter. Ethan started his life like any other, though it wasn't always smooth sailing. He got into a lot of arguments with his dad in his teenage years and struggled to cope with the passing of his grandparents. Still, he always had his mom by his side and never took things for granted. However, things got ugly when Ethan saw his father beating his mom. Ethan got in between his parents and took a slash to the face from a broken beer bottle. That proved to be the last straw and Ethan and his father hammered away on each other. In the process of their fight, the handgun his father kept hidden on the bookshelf fell out and both grappled for control of the gun. Everything changed when the gun fired, killing his father. Ethan and his mom were horrified by all that happened. After some investigation and discovering that his father had some shady dealings, Ethan was not charged for killing his father, as it was confirmed to be in self defense. Sadly, Ethan's mom would die a few months later from a stroke. Ethan wanted to take his life because he lost everyone in his family by jumping off a bridge, but was stopped by Simon "Ghost" Riley, who decided to listen and comfort the grieving young man. Seeing that Ethan had potential of being a part of his team, Ghost made an offer that Ethan took no hesitation on accepting. Ghost offered to not only be Ethan's guardian, but also train him to be a member of Task Force 141 (later known as Ghost Team after merging with Los Vaqueros). Ethan accepted and trained a lot, getting advice from not only Ghost, but also Soap, Gaz, and Captain Price, even learning Spanish with Alejandro Vargos during the Mexico campaign. The training, paired with his freakish strength and speed, made Ethan a lethal threat to his enemies. Ethan even painted parts of his face to match his attire. Of course, he does have to put up with Ghost's bad jokes, including romance jokes on a couple of occasions, which sometimes leads Ethan to fire back some retorts of his own. He eventually took the name of Echo, because of his surprisingly excellent hearing and ability to pinpoint exactly where enemies will be hiding at. This served him well when Graves and Shepherd betray Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros, as he picked up on the true intentions beforehand. Shadow Company gave Ethan another nickname, which was Reaper. Many in Shadow Company feared him because of how he comes out of nowhere and scores a kill or two without even being seen. Following the Mexico campaign and stopping Hassan, Ethan decides to take some time off and visits the graves of his mom and grandparents, with Ghost being right by his side as Ethan leaves fresh flowers on the gravestones. Wherever Ethan goes, he vows that anyone who threatens the lives of innocent people will be killed by his own hands.
