Lane could only curse internally in her head. The unusual pink Zangoose was sitting on a bench minding her own business. It was a peaceful and nice day in the park, but she doesn’t see it that way.

It all started with a message the other day…

Lane: Hey

Nix: Oh hey! Haven’t seen you in months!

Lane: Eh, sorry. I needed some time for myself.

Nix: What’s the matter?

Lane: Nothing...

Nix: Come on you know you can’t lie to me, Laney!

Lane: Ahkdbfsa don’t call me that!

Lane: Fine, I got knocked up by my stupid husband…

Nix: You too? Congrats!

Lane: Wait…

Nix: Yep! I am going to be a mom too <3

Lane: Fudge, you always say you wanted a family… But did you HAD to be around mine?!

Nix: I thought you didn’t want a family yet?

Lane: I know but he somehow convinced me. And I kind of regret it

Nix: Aww, you having trouble with it?

Lane: I just not don’t know what the fuzz about. I haven’t enjoy it since I got pregnant.

Nix: Ouch! That’s too bad ;w;

Nix: Maybe we can talk about it? In person?

Lane: Heck, Nix. That’s what I wanted at first. But this is awkward now!

Nix: Come ooon. Moms need to help each other.

Why Lane thought this was a good idea? She avoids going outside… exposing her belly… in a public park no less. Zane should have bought bigger maternity clothes like she told him to. But no, she was going out with a somewhat ill fitted outfit. Nevertheless, even with the unfortunate circunstances, she is there. All she can do now is wait for her friend to arrive.

Lane shifts her weight a bit while she drinks her tea somewhat in disgust. She probably should have ordered something better. It didn’t take long to hear another buzz from her phone.

Nix: Ooof, I am almost there.

Lane: Ok

Nix: I see you. Look up I have a bigger surprise for you!

She’s here already? Well so much for getting comfortable. What does she mean by bi-

Lane drops her phone.

“What in the heck did Watcher do to you??” Lane almost had a panic attack seeing an abnormal dark grey furball in front of her. The owner was a dark grey Ninetails, wearing an undersized leather jacket and jeans. She looked eagerly delighted to see her zangoose friend!

“Isn’t it great? We are going to have a big family early on!” Nix giggles, as she pats her belly. She responded so casually for someone that is probably gestating a football team in her womb.

Lane knew Nix was into this, but did she really had to show up with a bigger litter than her too? Now it makes things more awkward to relate.

“Dang girl, you look like you are ready to pop…” Lane said in a nervous tone, her tail stiff like a plank.. Soon she relaxes her posture, but her uneasiness remains.

“I know, right? But this is my second trimester!” Nix confesses.

“Fudge, so am I…” Lane rubs her own white furred belly unconsciously before snapping out of it. To think the zangoose mom is having quads makes her wonder how the Nix will be able to handle how many she is having right now.

“Now that we are here,” the ninetails spoke once more, as she waddled her way to the bench next to Lane. It made an audible creak once she sat down
Lane looks on the other side, somewhat uncomfortable before taking a breath and sighed. She offer her tea to her friend, which she happily obliged and began to slurp.

“You can have it, I don’t like the taste.”

“Thank you, Lane” the Ninetails resumed her slurping for a bit. Soon afterwards h before opening her shut once more “How are you feeling?”

“Aside from feeling fat? Eh, could be better.”
“Aww, you poor thing! Why didn’t you tell me you were feeling slum? I could have helped you.”

“...I don’t know, I wasn’t ready?. What am I supposed to tell you back then? I am a tough girl, never been soft… in more ways than one.”

“I can’t believe you feel that way, Lane!”

“Ugh… it feels weird. Besides, this was HIS idea.”

Lane was left rumbling to herself, while Nix pats on her head.

“You know, it’s a lot of responsibility buts maybe it will be another challenge for you? You always find a way to make it enjoyable”

“Hmm… it sure feels like one, haven’t found the fun in it yet.”

“You still miss experiencing the rush?”

“Oh you have no idea… Extreme sports was my life. I am not sure I can’t try them again even when the kids are out.”

“If you ask me, you don’t need to go extreme to enjoy watching them still.”

“I guess, but it feels weird. I want to participate… aaaah.”

“Sounds like you just need to finally get your butt out of the house and hang with your old buddies!”

Suffice to say, it was nice to chat with her good friend Nix. The zangoose is, however, not convinced he wants to let her “other” friends know about her pregnancy just yet.

“You are probably the only friend I know off that is having kids. I still don’t feel too comfortable hanging out with my other friends yet.”

“I can totally hook you up with my other friend, Nile! She is expecting too, so maybe you can feel more comfortable too.”

“Don’t tell me that’s the Lucario gal you mentioned way back…”

“That’s right! She is a bit shy, but I am sure you two will warm up and becomes friends too”

“This is gonna get more awkward, Nix…”

“It won’t be, I promise! It’s only going to get better. Let’s enjoy motherhood together, alright?” Nix then proceeds to snuggle her friend.

“Ah, Nix your…” Lane was caught of guard by the hug, unsure if she should complain or struggle. But it does feel weird getting smothered by her larger belly.

“Hm? Did you say something?”

“Nevermind…” Lane sighed, still wondering what she got herself into.

So I end up working on some more new stuff featuring Lane to expand her backstory a bit. This will be the earliest appearance (as of now) with her best friend Nix, which belongs to . Hopefully more to come soon.
