Description

It was a day like any other in the forest wing of the conservatory. My favorite places are cold and harsh, but sometimes the fresh forest air is something I crave. I woke up from a long comfortable nap to rays of sunlight gently licking my fur. As I began to stretch, Willow stirred and fluffed her feathers. Perhaps she wanted to doze more, but I felt unusually compelled to explore the depths of the forest wing.

After a quick stretch, we started off into the damp, mossy woods. The deeper we went the less the outer shell of the conservatory could be seen and we were suddenly in an endless forest. I can’t explain why, but my heart and soul felt drawn to a new place. The deeper we went the more my fur stood on end. I felt a little uneasy, like I was about to discover something huge, and maybe a little scary. Willow fluttered through the trees and sometimes went ahead, but she always came back as soon as she sensed I was becoming too anxious without her company.

In the deepest parts of the woods, I began to see more and more runes. They were inscribed on the trees, and on the smooth stones that seemed to be lining my path through this dense forest. They glowed a beautiful cool shade of teal and stood out wonderfully against the environment. Eventually, I spotted an entrance. It was grand and gave off a lot of feelings. The woods were so quiet now, I couldn’t even hear willow anymore. I was sure she’d gone ahead, curious girl.

As I entered, by some unusual force, I knew where I was. The temple of Silence was eerily calm as I delved deeper inside. The walls were ornate and covered in runes that seemed to be telling me a story and inviting me deeper. I couldn’t resist the feeling, so I kept going…

(pls go easy on my writing, I am DEFFINITELY not a writer but I wanted to try for these prompts!)

Ahhh finally ready to submit my soulsong stuff. I was so artblocked when the quest was revealed that I honestly thought I wasn’t going to be able to participate but I’m so glad I buckled down and did.

For my intro piece, I decided to go for a gradually more magical environment rather than literally drawing a gate. I wanted to show that Aspen was lead to it by some weird supernatural force that was just drawing him towards it with some sort of feeling.

For these drawings, I relied heavily on lineart which I usually do not do. Actually I find it really hard to draw in any organized fashion LOL ;; I really want to do that more though. I painted over the lines slightly because when I inked these I used really thick lines thinking I wouldn't be very motivated to finish. I ended up going all out and doing full bgs for all of them though which I’m super happy about! I also did these all in procreate on my ipad which I have also never done before. I’ll do everything in procreate but I always end up rendering in PS because that’s what is most comfortable for me. I’m so glad I did this though, now I can do more finished art away from my computer! I also used all new brushes (because different program). I wanted the esk points so badly I changed my whole ass art routine lmfao
