I finished about 8 eps now. I gota say... I hate most people on that ship. Scott is a Christan that can't control his weenier, chloe is slut and shallow and Young is an idiot. My fav episode would be Time when they all died cept for Eli whom so far been my favourite

Yeah, i'm starting to feel the same. I still like scott a little. That was my favorite episode too! when they're in the jungle and eli is the last to die. don't like Dr. Rush that much actually. He has his own agenda. They're not going to kill Scott or Chloe anytime soon i think. Scott is too big a character and Chloe is needed as his love interests and Eli's crush. If she dies, we'll lose a big piece of the plot.

My biggest problem with the show is its serious-ness. That was why I couldn't get into Battlestar at all. I do like the characters though.

The world is full of irony and opposites. I strive to find the pictures that show it, the funny ones at least! I love it when something applies to the actual world.

I actually know several people in the military. They all take the humor in stride and even partially agree. And I've only seen the end of Starship Troopers (sadly)

ah really? you should read the book, it's extremely good. I loved the movie too. My friends call me geeky for it. It was critized for promoting militarism but there are some things that apply to modern day in there also.

Ok, well once I finish my three books for school, whatever Wheel of Time book I'm on now (I think The Shadow Rising), Dune, and whatever book my girlfriend gave me last week I'll be sure to check it out. And personally, I don't mind being an odd mix of geek, band nerd, and athelete. Its weird...

Yeah, it's a really good book. If you do read it, tell me what you think of it. I don't mind haveing a title like that either! I've had it for so long! Except for band, i was in orchestra for a few years but i had to leave because of an injury. Not weird, for us = normal.

I gotta say I liked Universe, mainly because it seemes so much more serious than the willy-nilly, oh well exploring that made up alot of SGA's plot. The only thing that saved SGA for me was the characters. But back to SGU, The pilot was pretty great and sets up for many plot conflicts. I think that Rush, for a genius, is an absolute idiot and will have a bit of a death later on, probably leading to a suicide attempt later on or a self sacrifice of some sort.
Scott is pretty cool, got a decent head on his shoulders and at least attempts to hold everyone together.
Eli is, well at this point, Eli. Just a gamer geek with a load of good luck, definately a cross between McKay and Carter. I have to say he is my favorite character so far.
All in all this looks like it will be slightly remeniscent of BSG and at the same time very different. The characters themselves will make this interesting and a military-civilian showdown is very inevitable. I like the concept of a time limit to the exploration and the whiny senators daughter, while simultaneously hot and smart, will definately cause some problems and have many more of her own.
Now after a prolonged rant about what might happen, I hope the best for this series and want it to live up to the Stargate legacy, though I will miss the ships from the previous series. They were all very bad-a, especially the X-203 and the Daedalus. We will miss you, awesome Earth ship.

yeah, at the moment, they fighting for their own lives not the worlds, and there's no connection to exploreing (except the reason Rush dialed the gate) except to save their own lives. I loved SGA in the beginning but towards the end, i was losing interest. Stargate has been around for a while. Yeah, Rush is definitely an idiot. His reasons for dialing the gate made no sense at all. He just can't stand being wrong i guess. I don't think Rush is the self sacrificial type...

I hope that Rush undergoes a very drastic character change that will be similar to what 1 did at the end of the movie 9.
