Description
Android 17 -An experiment by Dr. Gero built off a human base. Android 17 destroys Dr. Gero upon activation and begins his hunt for Goku. His hunt is cut short when in the middle of a battle with Piccolo, cell intervenes and eventually absorbs him. After Cell is killed, #17 is revived with the Dragonballs and lives in peace, even aiding Goku with Energy for the spirit bomb. In Trunk's future, Android 17 is much more vicious and kills most of the Z fighters. Trunks eventually returns from the past and destroys #17 after his long reign of terror.

17 should get more appreciation in the series.
I think it's kind of unfair how 18 stays and got married and he jusr disapeares.
He should get as much attention as 18 D8

Yeah, but I think Toriyama trusted his gut on that one. Dragonball Z already had a large male cast and he kept 18 around to try and balance things out a bit.
17 did get an ending cameo, but I think even if he didn't stick around he should have got a more appropriate departure, kind of like a last conversation with the Z fighters.

Yeah, he should've gotten a chance to explain everything or something like that, I don't know, all I can say about his departure is that I didn't like it at all D8, they could've made it at least a bit more honorable >.<

oh absolutely, but that was the case with a lot of characters. They just disappeared because they no longer really fit with the story. No honorable end or sense of conclusion (not including GT). Great examples of this are: #17, Lunch, Crane Hermit, Pilaf, all of Freeza's armies, Erasa & Sharpener, I could go on, but I think Lunch was the most forgotten character. She was quickly dropped due to the chasing tien excuse but that was never really concluded either.

indeed, it's a shame they handle minor character like that.
Instead of making clear what happens to them afterwards, they just vanish out of sight. Which is too bad really, because I'm sure there are a lot of people who liked some of those characters, who just keep wondering forever ( until they forget at least.)
I find it kinda sad that lunch is just submissed like that.
And everything that happens in GT doesn't really count because Akira Toriyama didn't really work on that, too bad because it could've been great if he did.

He helped with some designs and that was about it. I'm really happy that the new Dragonball online is planned to replace GT in terms of continuity. That coupled with the new Dragonball movie set to come out (the animated one, not the live action and I'm stoked!!)

Yeah your right.... I was quite disappointed with the way he was in GT.. i also hated cell for absorbing #17, and then he gives bk #18 at the end.....
But still he is such a cool character^^

Yeah, I used to always prefer 18 but then I really started to enjoy #17, he has so many qualities previous (and even future) villains didn't possess; he's awesome.
