Here's Android 17 and Bra, with several notable cameos!This one's for
There's so many references in here I feel obliged to list them all!!
- DBZ: Evolution poster in the store
- Traditional DBZ shoulder pad on far left manikin
- Manikin in dress has a haircut similar to Videl, coloring style for that dress was inspired by FFX's Yuna.
- Manikin on far right has Akasha's haircut (Akasha is a vampire from a game I used to play)
- The names on the bags and Latimer and Lindsay Falt, two friends I've spent a lot of time while drawing this.
- The store is called "Palace's Palor", Palace is a character from DBGT where this drawing takes place.
- the quote "you'll have a fabulous figure for our dresses" is from the english dub of the DBZ movie The History of Trunks.
- '15% off at Baba's' is a reference to the original dragonball where Baba sold her fortune-telling ability to rich people.
- The characters "Light and Misa Misa" from Death Note are entering the store. is the crumpled piece of paper a page from a Death Note?
- Hercule is a cutout standee and the gym store is named after him. The supplements and the weights are a personal reference to my time as an amateur weightlifter.

The biggest reference of all is Bra's pose which is that of her mother Bulma and the seductive moves she tried to use when she first met Goku.

I know who BB is but I never really got into the whole story of that. Mostly because it was a written novel instead of a graphic novel. Which is weird since I think Death Note would really work as a book, I just suppose I was done after the main story. I really only like up until L's death anyway.

yeah, after L died, I kind of stopped watching it. And every picture I've seen of Beyond Birthday, he looks like a demented version of L. It's kind of creepy.

I watched the rest of the series after L died but it wasn't as good. Near and Mello simply weren't as good protagonists as L and couldn't hold my interest. I thought Mikami was a decent character, but Near's conclusions weren't as interesting or methodological as L's. It just seemed like the artist wanted to finish the series and he really should have done that when L died and had Light win.
As far as Beyond Birthday is involved, it doesn't seem necessary. Death Note is a well-written but contained story. If they wanted to make a sequel/prequel, it would be much more interesting to see how the death note would have worked in a different time, such as the future, or perhaps in the medieval ages, where information is not nearly as available as it currently is, and a sherlock-holmes-type-character can solve a mystery traditionally.
The fact that Beyond Birthday is practically a demented clone of L doesn't interest me so much, but I haven't given it much of a chance either.

yeah, i wasn't much into the idea either. But your idea of a prequal/sequal where the death note could be used in another time sounds pretty interesting.

the easter eggs i see are the videl and maybe chihi mannequins, obvious light and misa, hurcle standie, DBZ poster, Baba's name what is a Baba in a fason store anyywas? volume one manga refernce of bulma doign this in DB. I think that's all i can see unles that piece of paper/litter is a discarded DN paper D8

Light is there because around the time I drew this I was watching 'Death Note' for the first time. I loved Death Note so much I decided to have the characters cameo in this piece.

Very nice picture with Bra and 17. Noticed both Yagami and Misa there. Now, I am curious, the dummy in the window behind 17, isn't that hair suppose to belong to Videl? It looks like it to me.

There are a ton of easter eggs in this picture!!
Including the live action movie poster, the second dummy to the right of Videl was supposed to the grand kai, the place is called palace's palor, a GT reference, the tagline 'a fabulous figure for these dresses' is a line from The History of Trunks movie, and there's a bunch more in there, some are a couple personal references and jokes.

I guess I wanted Raito to look evil and ominous in the background and I was watching a lot of Death Note that week so I had to toss both Yagami and Misa into this drawing! I absolutely adore Death Note but I can't draw L properly to save my life!
