Description
I was getting incredibly tired of Windows Vista's problems and decided to dual-boot Ubuntu. You guys obviously don't want to hear me bitch about Vista because we've all heard it before. However here's the pros of Linux.- No viruses.
- Give Ubuntu a test-drive without affecting your system with LiveCD.
- Much much much more efficient then Vista.
- Ability to boot and login in under a minute.
- All software is completely free. If you can find it for Windows you can probably find it for Linux.
- All software updates are automatic and free.
- Excellent graphics engine. Desktop Cube, water effects, ect.
- No registry so no registry errors.
- No hard drive fragmentation.
Installation
Installation was easy. All I had to do was shrink my main hard drive partition (I did 20GB). This left 20GB of disk space not being used by anything. I then booted the Ubuntu live CD and started the installation process. When it asked me where to install it I chose all available free space. This used the unallocated 20GB on my hard drive. After installing and rebooting it installed a new boot manager called GRUB which asks which operating system to boot. Click Ubuntu and the boot starts.
That's all there is to it.
