As of yesterday, The Wii U and 3DS Online servers have been shut down permanently. Any and all software on those platforms have lost their online compatibility as a result. That includes Splatoon, a title where the main gameplay is online multiplayer. This game was a risk for Nintendo, especially on the failing Wii U system. The gamble paid off and it became a massive franchise that has spawned two sequels. Even though it's sad to see it go, I will never forget this game, nor the memories I have of playing it back in the day with random players from around the world and friends in private battles.Rest in Peace Splatoon. Thank you for everything.
