so yeah, i wanted to draw a realistic patamon, the lack of interpretation in these drawings about patamon looking quite bat-ish is weird
hope to make more of these Digimon IRL

now for the biology bit: patamon (named after the sound they typically make when hopping short distances) tend to populate southern facing hills and unlike most bats are not in the slightest photo phobic, due to their 6 limbed body structure patamon are able to grasp at things and fly very effectively making them very useful messenger creatures. although it has a sunny disposition patamon will occasionally get scared, at this point its internal organs flare up creating a small pocket of air, its body will then regulate the temperature in that area to create a body of high pressure, this is passed through the body out the mouth where it gets coated in a very thick extremely alkali saliva and forms a bubble. when the bubble explodes the alkali solution irritates and possibly harms aggressors. this process only takes a few seconds so the bubble lasts to its target and the temperature in patamons body does not cause itself harm. patamons markings are for both show and to intimidate, like others of the digius family the eye markings are quite large, the fo' smile is used to distract enemys away from oncoming attacks from its normal mouth. as for its wings it has utilised the space by having a hollow ear structure interleaving with the base, this is built from the same protein as rhino horn to prevent rupture.
