Description
Jesse, his brother and their three cousins, all in seniors in high school, were finally able to get together and play a board game called ‘Don’t Get Caught by the Giant.’ They had all been shrunk due to a new strain of pollen that only affected certain immune systems. The board game was part of a new line handcrafted to accommodate tinies. Jesse’s dad was happy to have company for his kids, they seemed a little down lately. As the boys played their game in Jesse’s room his dad watched movies and started drinking, he was going to shower after work but it’s a Friday and he’ll smell like alcohol tomorrow anyway so he just relaxed enjoying the smell radiating from his socked feet. After watching one movie he had been through an 18 pack of cans and working on another, feeling happy drunk and wishing he had someone to mess around with cuz he was also feeling really playful. He stood up off the couch but fell right back down, completely wasted he laughed and tried again. He wanted to go harmlessly play with the boys maybe scare them a little, he grabbed a fresh beer and began staggering down the hall.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
The boys could hear their dad walking in the hallway, probably going to the bathroom or his bedroom and they continued on.
The giant man cracked open the beer and tried his best to make it to Jesse’s room without falling. The footsteps stopped at the door and the tinies heard the doorknob twist as their huge dad walked in slowly, leaning against the door frame. “What’s up dad?” Jesse said looking up at him. “Wouldn’t it be more fun if you guys tried not to get caught by a real giant?” His dad slurred as he smirked. He stepped forward barely keeping his balance, the room immediately filled with the cheesy stink that his socks gave off. The boys stared at him holding their shirts over their noses “Dad no thanks, we’ll just finish this round and go to bed.” Jesse’s brother said. Their dad didn’t stop walking “Well I do want to play so you better start running and DONT GET CAUGHT BY THE GIANT!” He laughed. The boys jumped up and started to back away quickly. “He’s just messing with us guys, don’t be scared.” Jesse said. But his brother shouted “Jesse, he’s drunk!!” and grabbed his hand pulling him back and they all started running. The massive feet kept coming, leaving impressions in the short carpet and the next step was almost on their cousins. “Dad!! That was way too close!! Please stop this!!!” Jesse screamed. The man staggered and squashed their game along along with the sleeping bags their cousins brought. “Don’t be a baby, I just to play.” the dad mocked. He raised his foot to take another step and it was right over Jesse’s brother, “DAD YOURE WASTED! PLEASE STOP!! YOURE NOT IN THE RIGHT HEADSPACE TO PLAY WITH OUR LIVES!!!!” Jesse’s brother could see the gigantic big toe rushing past him. “Better run faster than that little boy.” The giant said laughing. Jesse and the cousins weren’t that far away and he was watching the scene unfold with his chest pounding, he’s going to witness his brother die by accident by their father. Jesse heard the bone chilling screams from his brother as the greying sock met the carpet—SQUELCH CRUNCH
Before he could let it sink in Jesse watched without warning, the other foot fall quickly onto his cousins. The screams and squishing sounds will haunt him for the rest of his life. “Oh shit, what have I done..?” Their dad said as he tried to balance and stepped on his nephews without meaning to. “Holy fuck no!!” He said, his voice cracking, sobering him up a little. He looked for Jesse and saw him on his knees, bawling into his hands. The giant sat down on the floor looking at his feet barely seeing the gory remains. “I can’t believe that just happened, I just killed my son and nephews….” Tears ran down his cheeks into his beard. Jesse heard his dad sitting on the floor, he looked up with bloodshot eyes watching him check his feet, crying silently. “WE TRIED TO TELL YOU!!!! YOU ASSHOLE!! THEYRE ALL DEAD BECAUSE YOU JUST HAD TO MESS WITH US WHILE YOU WERE DRUNK!!!” Jesse hysterically screamed as he jumped to his feet. His dad was obviously showing regret, then he reached for his only son to console him. “I’m so sorry for everything, it was all my fault Jesse..” he backed away shouting “DONT TOUCH ME! I CAN NEVER LOOK AT YOU AGAIN!!!” The hand still grabbed him gently and brought him to his chest holding him against it apologizing over and over. Jesse fought him all the way to his chest, angry crying. “I’LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO SAY TO UNCLE DREW?!!!! His dad moved his hand away from his chest now looking like he had an idea. “Well if you can never look at me or forgive me and uncle Drew will kill me if I tell him what I did…” he lowered his son to the floor between his feet. Jesse looked up at him confused but still angry, his dad looked a little annoyed now. “WHAT?? WELL WHAT??!!!” His dad flatly said “I’ll tell your uncle that a spider got to you guys while I was sleeping, no one can know what happened.” He then brought his foot up over his son. Jesse listened and watched the foot rise above him, seeing dark red/brown smears and tiny pjs. The sleeping bags were hanging from from the fabric of the sock. “D D Daaad?? What are you going to do?!” The foot didn’t stop as his dad ignored his pleas. “You won’t feel a thing son, I’ll make it quick.” Jesse remembered the screams from earlier and he was now inconsolable as he ran from his dad’s smelly foot. “DAADD!! YOU DONT HAVE TO DO THIS!!! PLEEEASE! NNNOOO!!!!!!!!”

The man twisted back and forth on the ball of his foot making sure Jesse was completely gone. He just sat there finishing his beer, mortified by the situation he caused.
