MerMay 2021: Day 01

Prompt: Rescue
Inspiration: Lion Fish

First day of MerMay! And my first time participating. I wanted to take a different approach than when I did Drawcember and make more elaborate pieces, but I needed to find a way to make them within 24 hours as that is the challenge. So I decided I would skip the inking process and make more of a painted drawing with cutout colours and shading.

For this piece I decided to have the mermaid be the rescuer of some helpless fish. She can't have those pesky fishermen stealing all the good grub in the sea, now can she?
