Finally a real description for this picture. It started with a photo that I made on my first trip with my cam. But soon I recognized that this photo doesn't fit in right. And instead of deleting it, I created a new, a black, layer. And then just playing arround with with photoshop. The clouds are really confusing and a mixture of many cloudphotos and some brushwork.
I know that this pic lacks of quality but it's one of my first space pics every and it's my most famous one. During the last month I've been trying to improve this deviation. Without success. I think it's like a ban.
I'm happy that so many people around the world anyway like this picture and I want to thank you a lot for your attention and feedback.

when it just showed up in my message center (i watch the #Customizers group) i was like: how can anyone have the guts to rip it and release it as their own?.
but after i clicked on the thumbnail i found out that i finally have met the very artist who originally created the wallpaper which i've known and came accross for soooooo many years now.
this is such a stunningly beautiful and perfectly executed artwork.
even more so .. it somehow managed to burn an imprint of itself in my mind so i'd probably remember it for the rest of my life.
well, at least it did over the past 3 or so years.
i'm so glad that at last i'm able to tell you this, Sir.

da spricht der kerl sogar deutsch.
du kennst das vielleicht: du guckst einen moment zu lang in die sonne und wenn du dann die augen schliesst, kannst du sie immernoch sehen.
so ähnlich geht es mir mit deinem wallpaper hier.
leider wird es immer ein ärgernis bleiben, dass grosse kunst leider immer auch kopiert werden wird.
im prinzip könnte man es aber auch als eine sehr merkwürdige art von auszeichnung betrachten.
immerhin kommt deine arbeit überhaupt dafür in frage, geklaut zu werden.
diese zweifelhafte ehre werden andere niemals erreichen.

hmm you have to work with large sizes.... textures like 10,000x5,000px or so
