Eggman: Really? A stack of buckets? That'll teach me to randomly stack buckets in the center of my lab.Shadow: (Muttering) Any ideas on how to get out of this one?
Cream: We could try asking politely.
Knuckles: No offence, Cream, but I doubt Eggman would even try to let us out with that...
Marine: Eggman could trip over his own buckets again.
Silver: And how will that help?
Charmy: Well, we will make a quick getaway while he's not looking and will neverΒ catch us as we fly off.
Espio: But, can you, Cream, Rouge, Tails and Silver fly the rest of us out of here?
Tails: We can get you guys to a nearby building, then we can use the elevator to get down.
Sonic: Sounds fair to me.
Blaze: B-but we're up so high... what if we fall?
Silver: Just trust in me, Blaze. I won't let you fall. Promise.
(Blaze shyly nods in reply)
(Later...)
Eggman: Okay, found it! Okay, I just have to take three steps back. One..two.. (trips backwards and falls off the building as the inator activates) OWWWWWWWWWWWWW! WHY DO I KEEP STACKING BUCKETS?!?! (The five teams launch out of the building in fly formations) CURSE YOU, TEAMS SONIC, DARK, DIMENSION, CHAOTIX AND ROSE!

Why do Sonic and the others look sad on the first part? They're not afraid of Eggman, are they?

Yeah, or at least Sonic, Shadow, Silver, Knuckles and the ones who aren't afraid of Eggman. But Rachel, forgive me for saying this, but oddly enough, you seem to have made Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow and Silver a little less like themselves.

Well for one, Sonic doesn't cry, Shadow never shows lightness except for either a grin or a bit of a smile, Knuckles is more of a tough guy and I've hardly seen him look worried, except for in Sonic Boom of course. As for Silver, I don't think he worries that much, in spite he is insecure when he's on his own.

Well, for Sonic, during certain events [Ie: Shadow supposedly dying in Adventure 2Β and Blaze being out to hunt him down in my take in 06], that will most likely trigger his innermost emotions.
Shadow I see mellowing out over time, eventually joining in the others laughter and jokes.
Knuckles, well, of course he wouldn't get worried so easily, but he does care deeply for his friends, and does try to cheer them up when he can.
Silver I think is a bit more sensitive to emotions then the aforementioned Sonic, Shadow and Knux. And, well, I don't think I do him too badly.

I know, but Sonic's a tough guy, what would really trigger him is if Tails was injured or someone talking rubbish about him and Manic, a certain someone in particular who had helped raise Sonia.
I don't see how Shadow can join in a laugh or a joke, after all, he's never been good with memories and I don't think he finds things funny. However, I did see a bit of his light side when he said that he didn't want to fight Tails when Tails tried to protect Cosmo.
You're a bit right about Knuckles, he does care for his friends and he is there for them when they need him, but I think Sonic and Knuckles are more of a rivalry bond, besides, each time the knucklehead is tricked by Boldy Mc NoseHair, he and Sonic have to settle things with a fight, apparently.
I suppose Silver is a little sensitive, but to me, all four of these guys are tough, but non of them seem too bright, except for Shadow of course. Since Sonic can be a bit careless, Knuckles is fooled too easily and Silver is kinda naive like we experienced in Sonic 6.

True, true, but hurt any one of his friends and Sonic goes berserk. [And by that I mean angry, not crying]
Maybe spending more time around the others will bring out Shadow's lighter side. I just see that happening after a while.
Again, true, but when things are at stake, I can see Knuckles showing his soft side.
Silver's naΓ―ve, but one of his strengths is his kindness. We see this in 06 as well with this line. Granted, Silver didn't know it was actually the same guy he was hunting down, but he put his mission aside to help Amy find her friend.
Silver: After remembering Amy is looking for someone. Let's go. I'll help you find who you're looking for.

Yeah, Knuckles does show his soft side with those type of things, but... He tends to show a bit of roughness as well.
