A little bit of fan art/fic for The Gathering of Companions! What if… Gina had convinced Light to wear something a little more modern for their arcade date?

“Gina, I thought you said these clothes would keep me from attracting too much attention.”

“Hm? They do… way less than your normal outfit, at least…”

“Then why are people still staring at me?” he whispers accusingly, shooting a nervous glance back over our shoulder at the crowd.

I follow his gaze and have to stifle a giggle as I notice the cluster of teenage girls, whispering behind their hands and eyeing him with unmistakable looks of appraisal.

“Light… they’re not staring because they think you look suspicious, they’re staring because they think you look good.”

“…Oh.” He considers this for a moment as we wind our way out of the arcade, a smile stealing across his face.

“Well, do I?”

“Do you what?”

“Look good.” He says it so flippantly, all flashing eyes and toothy grin, but underneath his usual bravado I detect a hint of uncertainty. I suppose the clothes from my world feel pretty strange to him, after all…

“Of course, you look quite dashing!” I reply brightly. “You didn’t think I’d pick out an outfit you’d look bad in, did you?”

Light simply stares at me for a long moment, eyes wide, then splutters and turns away. “I guess as mortal garments go, they’re not so bad…” he mutters, but I can’t help but notice the bright pink flush that’s crept over his face.

So even genies can get flustered. …Cute.
