Asani was finally old enough to play outside without his mother watching him. He was so thrilled, first thing he was going to go and ask to play with Nala and her friends.
Every time he played with Nala and her friends before they'd end up "doing something wrong" according to his mother and she'd yell at them, it got so bad Asani decided he'd just stay away from the others until he was old enough to go out by himself. Which he now was!
He ran up to Nala, whom was hanging out with her normal group, Chumvi, Malka, Tama, Tojo, and Kula. "Hey guys! I'm finally old enough to go out alone. So can I play with you?"
"I dunno... Zira always yells at us-" Tojo started.
"Totally!" Malka said with a sky grin. "We can play hide ans seek." He winked to Chumvi.
"Yeah! That's my favorite game ever. Hey Asani, being it's your first time playing, you get the honor of being the hider." Chumvi said, playing along.
"Cool! But how do you play?" Asani said with a huge grin, his heart fluttered, feeling as though he was finally accepted.
"Oh it's real easy." Nala started. "You run off and find a place to hide while we count to a hundred, then we come and find you." She said, also smiling.
"Oh, alright. Sounds fun!" Asani said happily.
"Alright! And... Go!" Chumvi said.
"1.. 2.. 3.." Malka started, Asani dashed off into the tall grass to search for a place to hide. "..4.. 5.. 6.. 7..... and he's gone!" Malka laughed.
"Nice quick thinking dude, great way to get rid of the pest." Chumvi said.
"Wait, you guys are gonna just leave him out there?!" Tama asked, surprised her friends would consider something so mean.
"Why not?" Malka asked.
"Because he's just a baby! He could get lost, or hurt." Tama said, narrowing her eyes. "How could you be so mean?"
"Well because of him Zira always yells at us, she's so scary. It's only fair he learns what it's like to be scared, too." Nala said.
"But she'd never really hurt us." Tama said.
"Nala has a point... And how do we know Zira would never hurt us?" Tojo said.
"Well... She hasn't yet, but just because she might one day means we should try to get Asani hurt? It's not his fault his mom's a witch." Tama said.
"Oh lighten up, he'll be fine." Malka said. "Let's go play for a while, and if it gets too dark before he wonders back we'll go find him and say he hid so good he was hard to follow."
"Fine... " Tama grumbled.

Asani sat alone, on the root of as tree, smiling at the sky. He waited and waited, but the other never came.
While we was waiting he drifted into thought, who's turn it would be next. He played out the scenes of searching for them all in his head. Finding them.... Finding Nala....
Asani liked Nala. He liked her a lot. She was beautiful, funny, smart, sweet, everything a future queen should be. He wondered if she'd ever be willing to be his love. He wondered what their kids would look like? They'd mostly likes have eyes that were different shades of blue, the boys would have light manes... She'd be wonderful...
Hours passed by, still none of the other cubs showed up. Asani fell asleep waiting.
"Asani? Asani! There you are." Nala cooed, coming up to him, he smiled and nuzzled her and she nuzzled back. I missed you, I was so worried." Asani's eyes snapped open to see his mother.
"Mommy? Why are you here?" He asked.
"Never mind that, I looked all over for you. Why are you out here?" Zira asked.
"Me and the others were playing hide and seek! I must be really good because they can't seem to find me." Asani said, grinning proudly.
Zira frowned. "When did this game start?"
"Just a bit after I left the den." He said.
"They left you..." Zira said. "Let's go." Zira turned around to head back towards pride rock.
"Nuh-uh! I'm just a really good hider!" Asani argued. Zira sighed. She didn't want to argue.
Zira went up to Sarabi, who was getting ready for the evening hunt, all the cubs gathered around he, wanting to watch her hunt.
"Sarabi!" Zira shouted.
Sarabi sighed. "Yes, Zira?"
"Those cubs, the one's you're in charge of abandoned my son! They said they wanted to play hide and seek with him, though while he was stucking hiding for hours, those brats did no seeking!" Zira shouted.
Sarabi's annoyed expression soon turned to one of shock. She looked to the cubs with a questioning face.
They all paused before Malka finally spoke. "Alright, so we left him! It's just he's such a pest..."
"And because of him Zira always yells at us! It's not fair!" Chumvi added in.
Asani's eyes welled up with tears. It was trued? He never thought the others were so harsh....
"See?! They're lucking that I don't banish them!" Zira yelled, glaring at the cubs.
"That's not fair! Sarabi!" Nala started.
Sarabi narrowed her eyes at the cubs. "I am so disappointed in you all. Get back to the den. Now!" She said.
The cubs lowered their heads and went off to the den.
Sarabi lowered her head to be at level with Asani. "Hey little on, I'm sorry about them, but I have a question... What's your most favorite thing to eat?" She asked him.
Asani was clinging to his mother's leg. "A-Antelope." he sputtered out.
Sarabi smiled and stood up straight and turned back to the hunting parting. "Alright ladies! I hope you're ready to run because we have a sad prince and a bite of antelope would sure cheer him up about now!" She called out. The rest of the hunting party cheered, putting on a show for the prince.
Zira smiled, she still adored Sarabi for her kind heart. Zira picked Asani up by his scruff and carried him back to the den.
