Okay so I did this doodle in my free time this morning...and I just did one heck of a quick colour. I can only stave off procrastination for so long. > _____>; Ahem.I thought it would be fun to cross Star Wars + Tenchi Muyo... In particular the Jedi and Jurai. I mean...I always was reminded of the relationship between the Force and Jurai power from the moment I saw the first TM movie.
The Force...from life. Jurai...from life.
Light-saber. Tenchiken.
...Space Pirate Ryoko, space trader Han Solo. See?! It rhymes!
And stuff. \>____>/ Obi-Wan stars with Tenchi as the high school kid tries to explain the concept behind the Tenchiken and his own life-based power...

Ironically I built a working Tenchi-ken for the Tenchi panel at Ohayocon based on SW lightsaber props.

Unfortunately the first LED blade segment broke the day of, so it only partially lit. : (
It had sound too. It was 3D printed and had probably 20 hours of hand sanding, stenciling, and painting.

The people who created Tenchi Muyo! tapped into the same mythical themes as Star Wars: the peasant boy destined to become a great hero, the villain who shares ties with said hero, the princess, the outlaw anti-hero, the comical sidekick...
I even have a mental image of Ryo-ohki meeting the Ewoks!

Very intresting. Though in the OVA (OAV) timeline the Powers of the Jurain's come not from life, but from Tsunami, on of the three beings that created the universe. Even then it is channeled through the Jurain trees. That is all Jurain's except Tenchi, who either genrates his own, or draws from a being more powerful then Tsunami, Tokami, or Washuu.

I must admit, comparing the Jedi to Jurai has often occupied my time and thinking as well.
Nearest I can figure, they are simular yet different.
...And Tenchi can't move things telekenetically or control the weak-minded, but he can hack a spaceship in half with one swing!
