Description
While searching for Christmas-themed stuff to watch on Peacock, I found this movie, Finding Santa: A Christmas Adventure. It's a foreign stop-motion-ish film from 2019 about a young orphan boy named Julius who becomes disenchanted in Christmas and Santa, especially due to two jealous bullies at the orphanage spilling the beans, but ends up being transported to a magical dimension existing within a tiny box of knick-knacks, where he finds Krampus has kidnapped Santa and taken over and Julius must recover Santa with the help of the elves and his new friends, a golden angel and a bear-size pig made of Marzipan, and save Christmas (like most Christmas films).
Now, first off, I'll say that most of the kids at the orphanage, specifically the bullies, aren't likable. And the animation tries to match the stop-motion technique but the characters look more like they were cut out of a magazine, with some kids almost looking like James's animated form from James and the Giant Peach.
The film itself would feel more appealing to very little kids, but if you're a sucker for family Christmas classics, even ones that aren't popular in America, I suppose I'd recommend watching it at least once.
