How many times do you think Hikaru and Kaoru have been asked this question?
Honestly, coming from the stand point of an identical twin, it's only cute the first time but after the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 time it becomes rather annoying
Haruhi may sound sincere but Hunny simply finds her question rather silly and the answer rather obvious

me and my twinsis gets that a lot too, and we're not even that similar.
just randomly, when sis came to our class few months after high-school started, our classmate Martin said: "Are you twins?
we: yes.
M: but.. are you siblings?
we: if we're twins, isn't it quite obvious that we are?
M: but.. do you have the same parents?
he can be so stupid, but he's really cute. ^^

I kinda get where you're coming from. Sometimes me and my mom are asked if we're sisters (my mom is short, 37 but she looks like she's a teenager) i'm as tall as my mom so that's why everbody asks us that! once when I went to school, my mom had to talk to my band teacher, so her, me and my bro were walking in the hallway and a really mean staff member(she threw me out of the school when i needed to be in there early in the morning- in the middle of the winter, by myself with noone else outside) yelled at us and almost made us leave. my mom yelled back telling her she was a parent and the lady tried to make herself look nice.lol

We get that a lot; we are identical twins ourselves.
What's weirder is this: We've been called triplets when no one else was with us.

I have, however, been asked the same thing several times while walking with my sister who is three years my senior. Our build is complete different, as is our complexion and eye color. There's no way we're twins!
