And Punisher is a man with no restraint whatsoever. He's become as bad as the criminals he fight. And don't bring up the story about the guy who killed a psycho to save a woman's life, that guy didn't start murdering criminals left and right, he stopped because he finished what he needed to do. Punisher is an obsessive mass-murdering vigilante who has gone past avenging his family. If you value characters and people because they kill criminals, and if you think that's the only effective way to stop crime, then you should try and look at the actual state of the world and the people in it.

you know what... I agree with you on punisher. he became the murderer he sought out to rid the world of. it's good writing and is interesting. a lot more interesting then batmans copy and paste "throw the criminal away til he comes back, rinse, repeat" story. that's why I like red hood so much, he broke away from the basic batman type story. andΒ I don't "value" characters that criminals, I "value" well written and fleshed out characters. and honestly, the vigilante type character isn't my most favorite honestly. punisher and red hood are the only two I can name off the top of my head cause those are the only two I like. my type of characters are ones with original and/or amazing back stories, vigilantes usually never have either of those

Actually not all Batman stories are the same. The Killing Joke focuses on the Joker more and includes him shooting Batgirl and crippling her in front of her father. I think there was a Catwoman story where Black Mask kidnapped her brother and sister, beat the brother to death, and then fed part of the brother to the sister.
And currently Red Hood is the leader of a team that has been called "Red Hood and The Outlaws." The team consists of him, Starfire, and Arsenal and it apparently is quite successful.

I know all of those except the catwoman/black mask story, that's fucked up. I kinda lost interest in red hoods story when red hood and the outlaws started. they took him in a weird direction with that series.

Warden-Shinigami In reply to Tony-Antwonio [2014-08-12 04:58:14 +0000 UTC]

Starfire was sold into slavery by her own siblings and Arsenal was an addict who got convinced into going into rehab by Killer Croc. Not exactly the most normal of groups. The only story of them I've read was with the Death of the Family story that had the Joker systematically take out each of the Batman family. Very screwed up storyline if you ask me.

everyone else in red hood and the outlaws was cool, but red hood kinda got screwed over storywise. death in a family... was that where he cuts his face off and wheres it as a mask?

Warden-Shinigami In reply to Tony-Antwonio [2014-08-12 05:24:06 +0000 UTC]

It was after that, but he does torment Batman and his affiliated sidekicks. He kidnaps Batgirl's mom, cuts off her ring finger, and proposes to Batgirl with it. He tries to mind freak Red Hood by reminding him of his family after poisoning his girlfriend. But the finale is really freaky, even to me.

Tell me about it. I once read this comic where Robin (Tim) talks Supergirl out of killing Joker, saying that while he deserves it, "we don't kill".

...Then I think "you mean aside from the thousands of innocent lives you're killing by letting him live?"

my personal form of execution for the joker, is to lock him in a box, and bury him fifteen feet underground, so he can slowly suffocate himself by laughing like a maniac. jason would prefer simply beating the shit out of joker until dead, but i prefer to make him suffer like he made his victims suffer. slow agonizing death brought upon by himself. it sounds sadistic, but the joker deserves what the joker deserves, and death comes in a variety of different flavors.

i just realised i quoted lucky harith from fallout 3 at the end there. still, lucky is right. there are many ways to kill a man, not all of which lawful and just. but thank you for agreeing, after all, the joker is a sick, sick man, and deserves to die. it's up to the murderer to choose how, but the fact remains, joker must not be able to walk the streets of gotham.

Yeah, But Batman is cool........Jason in the end......is just a whiny angry 15-year-old.
Also the reason Batman doesn't kill his villains is so we still have his villains.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Omnipotrent In reply to SkinnyZach [2013-04-08 12:27:37 +0000 UTC]

That doesn't make batman a good hero, just the opposite, thats like saying we have good cops because we still have criminals. The Justice system and batman fail to recognize some dogs need to be put down and for the amount of times Joker's escaped and killed innocent people, men woman and children alike....batman's at fault there.

And with what jason went through, as much as batman makes this persona around wanting to lash out for what was done to his parents, and the lengths he's gone, he has no right to judge Jason for being whiny and wanting Joker dead

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SkinnyZach In reply to Omnipotrent [2013-04-08 16:59:32 +0000 UTC]

Okay, the people he's killed don't exist. It's entertainment, don't take it so damn seriously.
Jason kills people no matter how low the crime even non-supervillains who don't come back when they are put in prison. Also, Jason got his ass kicked once by a guy called "The Flamingo" thats even worse then getting beat by The Penguin. LOL

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DanNorcross In reply to SkinnyZach [2013-04-21 16:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Jason or Red Hood, is just a character they have to give a different edge to comic books. He's the main character, and yet he kills. Jason just makes a good and troubling story for when people want to see something dark happen. And with the new story of Jason he's changed. He doesn't care about Batman. He looks out for him, Kori, and Roy. He is a some what better person.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SkinnyZach In reply to DanNorcross [2013-04-21 17:01:56 +0000 UTC]

If he doesn't care about Batman then why does he have the Bat symbol on his chest?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

SpiderFan1 In reply to SkinnyZach [2013-06-07 22:41:09 +0000 UTC]

Because he respects him. That's where he comes from. The Joker, Batman there a part of him. That's why he's red hood. Using Bruce's embracing fear method, also recognizing he wouldn't be what he is without the Joker, also using a bat to recognize he'd be nothing without Batman,

Generalobiwankenobi7 In reply to ??? [2012-12-20 20:18:27 +0000 UTC]

Hardly, killing them is not the solution. That is what separates Batman from other vigilantes and the criminals he fights.

In fact Jason doesn't want to kill the Joker to stop him, he wants to kill him purely for revenge. And his "crusade" is really just that of an angry child trying to prove he's better than Batman.

If Jason continued as a vigilante he would have brought in more dangerous criminals and psychos to match him, and it happened. Resulting in him nearly getting killed and Dick Grayson having to save his sorry butt.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gunjester In reply to Generalobiwankenobi7 [2012-12-31 16:19:38 +0000 UTC]

I take you're an older/only child? As a middle child I can personally connect to Jason's feeling of betrayal and inadequacy, he's been forced to live in the shadow of not just Batman as his sidekick, but also in the shadow of Dick Grayson, who was the greatest Robin ever and thus near-impossible to follow. Jason's trying to find his own path, and to tell the truth, after being beaten to death and blown-up by a homicidal maniac who has done the same to countless others, I think he's justified in wanting revenge, or at least a more severe punishment for the Joker.
Jason's a character who is still trying to find where he fits into the DCU, not to mention the fact he has a wee-bit of mental problems, maybe be less judgmental of him and wait to see if he really will stay this way forever.
