One of the major story points for Legacy of Sin was that portal technology went all kinds of crazy when the Rikti Invaded this time. Effectively 'loosing' the normal tracking ability that they had to lock onto various dimensions. Following Lord Recluse defeat of Longbow, he felt it was time to solidify his victory and took several thousand of his best troops into Recluse's victory to make final claim on it. And that was about the time that all the portals went crazy and Recluse with his troops were trapped in RV. Well, short version: The Vanguard Alliance managed to find him and bring him back on the condition that he would bring his forces to bear against the Rikti. He agreed. And this Rikti is about to have a very bad day.
