I gave up on it already! So many brushes and none of them doing what I wanted ... so I'm back in photoshop

This is probably you not giving it enough of a chance, bc I felt the exact same way when I downloaded a trial of photoshop. I was more comfortable in Painter, and I knew right away what tools to use, so I never really gave Photoshop a proper chance to show itself off to me. That being said, it's only a trial anyway so if you fell in love with it you'd have to buy it at the end! So maybe you're better off. XD
