As an improvement?
I guess you could blend in the tone and shading to compliment a more gradual and smoother effect, at most you might probably want to apply this improvement especially to his cloak/shoulder because your attempting to go to complete white.
Another small thing you could do is instead of having a pure white centre to to his mouth/teeth, maybe apply just a fainter shade of grey to avoid making it look incomplete.
Other than that dude, it's great, amazing actually.

the skill doesn't go away, its there every time, just use it, just let your hand glide. hehehe.
cant really remember when i started to draw, but since then i didnt stop. practice practice and more practice.
look for good references and inspiration. and practice some more. draw any time you get a chance. set some goal, maybe to developed a style or somethimg.
just draw.
