Description This was just bugging me to be done. I started out with a simple on-paper sketch, and it turned into a full-blown digital art project.

Let me start by saying this: I'm not a fangirl whose got the hots for Tahno. I like his character, he's intriguing, but really not my type (see Ichimokuren from Hell Girl to see more of my type ). He's like how Eiri Yuki is to me from Gravitation--a character who can be a real jerk, but has a backstory (the tormented souls variety) that just draws my sympathy and makes me like him. Again--I like the character Eiri Yuki, but not like that --->

Getting that aside, I really had the urge to draw something involving Tahno post bending loss. I had the idea in my head, started sketching out the basic details, and then cleaned up the lines (while reworking some entirely in the process)and digitally added color, textures, etc. in CS4.

I guess, to summarize the meaning behind the work, Tahno's struggling to come to grips with what Amon did to him. Every time it rains, he finds himself out in it, fantasizing that he's still able to use the ability that was stolen from him.. This time it's a torrential downpour; the citizens are indoors to get out of it. And here he is, standing on one Republic city bridge, contemplating over the ability he's lost. In his melancholy, he's trying in vain to gain back that part of him the made him whole. Really, he looks so sad, like he lost more than just that--like a reason for living or something. Poor guy.

There's an Ace of Base song that's got a string of lyrics that works well with this scene:

'Cause everytime it rains, I fall to pieces
So many memories the rain releases
I feel you, I taste you, I cannot forget
Everytime it rains, I get wet

The song title inspired the name for this piece

I'm actually planning on expanding this, with a comic and possibly a fanfic idea. With my time restrictions, that could be a while, but I intend to get it done. I'm motivated.

I really got wordy with the explanation If you managed to read through all of this, I applaud you. After a point I just started rambling.

Anyways, the nitty Gritty:
Tahno, Avatar: Legend of Korra © Bryan & Mike (Bryke), and Nick.
Artwork is mine.
