Description Great outdoor pic of my two best papercrafts to date.

Edit: Woah, logged in today and just had a ridiculous amount of messages and found the cause to be I got a DD! Awesome! I can't thank everyone for all their very kind words individually so...thanks to all! I can answer some of the more specific questions that came up though:
Size: Mario is 40cm tall and Luigi is 50cm
Templates: Mario can be found here [link] and Luigi here [link] A lot of the credit goes to Ignatius of the nintendopapercraft forums for editing and designing these fine models...
Instructions: I intended to make instructions for Mario and Luigi but never really got around to it and now I'm too swamped in projects to find the time for them. Let me say they're not easy but if anyone wants to attempt them I'd be happy to help them with any questions they might have.

Nope it's cardstock glued together. The textures are computer ink.

I'm working on your model right now. Hardest papercraft I've done lol. Still pretty much a newbie. Mine isnt as perfect like yours. Ran into a few minor problems and I'm sure I'll run into more. You did a good job. Love the model by the way. I'll be updating what I've done here if you or anyone wants to check it out. [link]

Off topic,
Noticed you had Toy Machine avatar. Be cool to see a papercraft of that lol

Hey it looks really good! Keep it up and you'll have a really nice model soon!
As for the toy machine model, I'm not really sure how the monster would look 3 dimensionally so it probably wouldn't happen...I do like Toy Machine as a company though.

Thanks Will be posting it my deviantart page if you want to see it whenever it gets done. Good point on the Toy Machine idea. A good skateboard papercraft would be pretty sweet.

These look awesome! I'm building Mario right now and need advice. I started building from the feet going up (I remember reading a suggestion of that somewhere) and I would like to know where the best place specifically to close the model. I'm not a very "clean" model closer so it would have to be an easy spot and one where, if I close it badly, it's not very noticeable. BTW, I finished the entire main body and am about to start buildng the head (head, hat, neck, etc.) Can you also give me build advice on Luigi? Build order, general tips worth knowing, etc. Thanks.

TouchFuzzyGetDizzy In reply to moneyhead64 [2010-07-27 05:44:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh I built Mario from head down so I'm not really sure about specifics but you probably just close at the top piece (but I would glue the smallest two parts of the hat together first before adding them to the model)
Luigi is more split apart than Mario so build order isn't really important. What I can say is that you should glue his arms to his body before you do the legs (so that you can still reach in and apply pressure from both sides). And connecting the hat and feet are pretty difficult too. I used strips of paper to make "tabs" to glue them on and that turned out pretty good.
Good luck with your builds! Be sure to post pictures when you're done!

Ok, about closing the model at the top of the hat..which two small parts of the hat are you talking about?

TouchFuzzyGetDizzy In reply to moneyhead64 [2010-07-28 21:39:11 +0000 UTC]

If you look at the top of the hat you'll see the two I mean.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TouchFuzzyGetDizzy In reply to moneyhead64 [2010-07-28 23:32:54 +0000 UTC]

Right. That's the one I started with and I believe they have tabs facing out...It would be a lot easier to end with if you switch the tabs.

moneyhead64 In reply to TouchFuzzyGetDizzy [2010-07-29 20:56:16 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to keep bothering you, but I don't know what to do with the tabs. There are only two tabs on the smaller piece to attach to the bigger piece. On that bigger piece there are no tabs at all,so is that what you mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TouchFuzzyGetDizzy In reply to moneyhead64 [2010-07-30 14:54:40 +0000 UTC]

Oh no don't worry about it, I'm happy to help. What I'm saying is that the way the tabs are set up you would have to push those small pieces from the inside (which you can't because the rest of the model will be enclosed). So if you flip the tabs on the places where they attach you can push from the inside. Basically just imagine yourself completing that part of the model and think about how much less difficult it would be if the tabs were on the bigger pieces.
