Then again, it did have good series like Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego, Class of the Titans... kids shows that you wouldn't remember today. Jane and the Dragon, despite having lackluster CGI development, is an interesting one. Think the concept of Brave before Brave even existed. Just a little run-in with the king's daughter befriending the kidnapper of the prince, which happens to be, you guessed it, a dragon. Not much is known of this for me, but I think it'll be a while to get to know this one.
#5 - The Awesomes (Animation Unknown) - Hulu is essentially the rival to Netflix which was getting left in the dust for some reason, because original animated series aren't it's thing! However, The Awesomes was probably one of their few to Netflix's collection of original animated series, so be thankful that it's lucky! Here's how it works: After rejecting the right to lead the Awesomes (a legendary superhero group), Perfectman leads a valid reason that his reason not for leading the group, is that he is no fool. (Plus he's a douche character that everyone in the city loves.) With the Awesomes disbanded, Prock, the son of the former leader of the Awesomes who can stop and restart time, alongside his buddy Muscleman, try to lead a new generation of The Awesomes when all the remaining members disbanded. And so, they get a secretary to draft out other members and lead them. Other members include Frantic (a bat sh*t crazy guy who has super speed), Sumo (a 9-year-old boy who, when feels pain, physically or emotionally, turns into an unstable giant sumo wrestler), Gadget Gal (one of the original Awesomes, who in this case, was an old lady who is now turned into a 30-year-old lady who still talks old), Impresario (a guy with extreme mother issues that is able to create virtually anything, but his mother issues also affect what the object might look like), and Hotwire (a girl who can use electrical powers who acts like a third wheel girlfriend). Together, they have to find some way to defeat the villain Prock's dad claimed was his "mortal nemesis", who has now escaped from prison. That's all I got. My advice for this series: If you want something maturely immature in a superhero comedy, but hate both The Thundermans and Henry Danger, The Awesomes just might be for you! (Fun Fact: This show has Saturday Night Live actors.)
#4 - Sally Bollywood (Animation Unknown/Zero Knowledge Files) - Hoo boy, more Qubo stuff that I found only recently! Airing back in 2010, this series is about a 12 year old girl named Sally, who with the help of her best friend Doowee, runs a detective agency called S.B.I. - "Sally Bollywood Investigations". Sally's an expert in Kalaripayatt, and she loves to sing and dance, Bollywood style. And since this was 2010, you can't accuse this as a ripoff to the AMAZING Shimmer and Shine. Besides, it's essentially episodes of Sandra the Fairytale Detective done right. And like Dragon Tales and Bear in the Big Blue House, episodes are scattered like a mess on Kimcartoon, so you'll have to figure out where the hell Episode 1 might be! Good luck...
#3 - Vamplets (Charismatic Comics) - Another branch-out here to prove that showcases aren't just for well, shows, this series had 5 issues, but is very enjoyable. Made by Action Lab Comics, think of Vamplets: The Nightmare Nursery as a combination of Ruby Gloom with Littlest Pet Shop. As the story goes: Teenager Destiny Harper is at a crossroad in her life. Graduation is coming, and she has zero prospects for the future. Answering an ad for "The Night Care Nursery" seems like a great idea, until she is magically transported to Gloomvania, where dark creatures lurk the streets, and the world is being mysteriously overrun by baby vampyres called Vamplets! Can Destiny serve her term as Governess of "The Nightmare Nursery" and return home? You can bet that this is an interesting idea, and when the going gets tough, try not to be scared and do your best. It's a really interesting series!
#2 - The Odd Squad (Live Action Unknown) - It's a little known fact about me, but I like PBS and its shows that are educational, but don't act like everyday educational shows. Around 2014, with Cyberchase still going strong, and with the Electric Company reboot and Fetch with Ruff Ruffman down since, I thought it would never recover. And oddly enough, as much as I like Chris and Martin, Wild Kratts did little help. Proven wrong on that after watching this! The Odd Squad's plot revolves around an organization of special 3rd-to-6th grade kids led by "Miss O". Two agents, Otis and Olympia, along with the head scientist Oona, are assigned to stop weird commotions threating the city commonly referred to as "Oddities". Such things include inanimate objects such as library books flying away, the shift in gravitational pull in one area causing some unknown dimension to spill out, or things that are just straight up odd like spaghetti overflowing a building. (Note: Otis and Olympia are from Season 2. There was a Season 1, but that's an entirely different story!) Essentially, it's very quirky and creative, and is one to enjoy alongside having a somewhat different take on math skills than Cyberchase. If you like this, are you willing to take up the mission of watching this?
#1 - Power Stone (Anime Unknown) - Now... I've been wanting to talk about this series for a long time! This series... is AMAZING! If you couldn't tell by the title, this is based off of the 1999 3D fighting game made by Capcom that will probably not get an HD remake until 2021 or so. And to me, video game animation was a tough time, because this series brought back my interest. And since both Super Mario Bros and Dic's version of Sonic were lame as hell, what video-game based animated series was the most enjoyable until Power Stone was made? You wouldn't think so, but... Carmen Sandiego! But enough about that, let's get to the plot: Legends say that a night shrouded in mystery is connected to seven sacred stones called Power Stones. The bearer of a Power Stone has the ability to conjure darkness or bring great light. It essentially has the power to make any dream reality! But that dream might take a while to adjust. Edward Falcon, a young boxer who hates his adventurer father who he hasn't seen since he was a child, recieves a gift for him. Unimpressed by the fact that it was just a stone, he sends his butler, Apallas, to have it return to sender. Things veer off course when Falcon has to save his butler from two pirates named Octo and Pus, who demand the stone under Lord Kraken's command. That's when Falcon learns the truth behind that stone, and it is in fact, a Power Stone. Falcon also experiences some slight temporary changes when the stone starts to glow, and is suddenly transformed into a missile-launching mechanical humanoid. Again, it's temporary. And with all the recent uproar, Falcon has no choice but to finish what his father was originally going to finish, and starts his journey. Other characters from the game such as Ayame, Rouge, and Ryoma are in the series as well, and this is by far one of the best underrated anime ever! If you haven't given this a shot despite being based off of a video game, you're gonna enjoy it!
