Description Hi everyone! I decided to create a new reference for my OC pony. I have much more animal characters and maybe going to create their own backstories and reference sheets in the future. You are propably wondering why did I draw her so often. She is special for me, because she is one of my first created characters. A bit of a Marvel story. I just hope, you won’t find this story too „Mary Sue" I created this when I was like 10 y.o. I can’t write stories, but at least I will tell you some about her.

The backstory

Toxic Moon wasn’t what you see her now. Her real name was Lighting Moon. She came from a wealthy family, living in a village, pretty close to Cloudsdale. Since a little filly she was always a curious, a bit shy but an energetic pony. Their parents always wanted the best for her. They sent her to a private school to be sure of her success in the future. Little Moon was meeting new ponies and attending classes. However, entering puberty, something bad began to happen. Her wings.. didn’t develop properly. The worst was confirmed, it turned out, that she was the owner of a very rare disease, that causes the growth of only down feathers. She couldn’t fly, only fluttering her wings with all her strength allowed her to soar a few meters. She has always been full of energy, she loved various forms of activity, from obstacle racing to team games. She wanted to fly, but since she got to know about her illness she was overwhelmed with sadness. Teachers explained to the her school contemporaries to make them understood her problem and didn’t make fun of her. Unfortunately, Lighting has always felt the eyes of others on her. She was different after all. She had an older sister who was too busy with her affairs and party life. She couldn't find time for her. Lighting felt lonely. One spring day there was to be a flying acrobatics competition in Cloudsdale. Lighting decided to go as a spectator, she always wanted to see Wonderbolts live. When she arrived, she saw quite a stir among the ponies. A few minutes ago, the news announced the evacuation of one of the nearby nuclear power plants. As a result of a mistake an explosion occurred and some of the hazardous substances began to evaporate to the top and settle in the form of clouds. However, the organizers couldn’t, cancel such an important event for Equestria. After all it is a long tradition and so much preparation .. Moon curious nature didn’t allow her to sit still for too long. She always wanted to talk to the contestants behind the scenes and look at their preparations. Although she couldn't fly herself and was dejected by this fact, she was always dreaming about this unbelievably intrigued thing.
That day, the sky-high city attracted thousands of Equestria citizens. It wasn’t difficult to get lost in the crowd. Lighting moved away from the stands. A gust of wind caused by the rush of flying, racing ponies led poor Moon out of the cloud. She broke through several of them and fell into the preparation room for the contestants. She landed on a pile of costume boxes. She was terribly ashamed. She wanted to slip away as soon as possible. She didn’t notice when by chance an old paper sheet with the starting number stuck to her side. The host of the event briefly moved from the starting arena to the contestants room in need of calling the next participant.
- Number twelve! Number twelve at the starting arena.
Silence
- Hey! Number twelve is you! Did you forget, you purple mare? Come out! You are delaying the entire event. I've been waiting here since morning! - A stressed pony yelled at Moon.
Lighting looked at her side and, to her surprise, there really was a number sticky note on her fur.
- Wait! It's not like that! - Moon perplexed at the moment.
- Number twelve on stage! - the host shouted again. This time, however, there was nervousness in her voice.
- Gee, I can't believe I have to intervene! - One of the contestants said loudly pushing Moon forward. - Your turn! Go on now. They've been looking for you for several minutes. There are really dozens of ponies besides you.
Moon didn't even notice when she was already in the arena. The exit door has been closed. Then all the eyes of the ponies turned to the frightened pegasus. There was silence, but not for long. Then joyful music resounded and the crowds began to cheer on with shouts. Storm clouds began to gather over the ongoing spectacle. Organizers underestimated the possible danger. There was a quit rumble, as if from afar. The audience was in emotions and the music effectively drowned out all the other sounds. Moon was confused. Her dream was to start in the competition and prove that if you really want something, you can achieve it. But now, she was aware that she couldn't fly and her wings were too weak. Time stopped for her for a moment. However, she decided to jump down. She believed it with all her heart, that she would flutter her wings as much as she can. She wanted to show everyone, that the disease didn’t overwhelm her life and dreams. She jumped..
just in moment the whole area was flooded with glow and bang, that deafened everything over a distance of several hundred meters. Despite the lack of rain, there was a lightning discharge from the accumulated, toxic cloud. Within ten seconds, Moon's coat was burned to a dark purple, near black color. The mysterious substance and temperature caused the dye of her hair to evaporate and the mane took on a green glow. Lightning stabbed her whole body, every muscle, organ and vein. As the tension left her body, Moon began to fall limply downwards. The audience froze. Nobody could believe what happened. Her heart almost stopped. But it wasn't over. After a while she felt the powerful energy accumulated in her body. She stretched her wings, the structure of her feathers changed beyond recognition and her muscles strengthened almost three times.
She started diving down at enormous speed, just before the ground, she changed direction, but it accelerated faster and faster. She couldn't control the power she now had. Her wings lived their own lives. In the next few seconds she reached supersonic speed and a bright green circular glow spread in the sky with a powerful bang accompanying it. Moon began to slow down, until she managed to land in the spectacle area. The crowd went crazy. The commentator began to announce, that this event would go down in the history of all Equestria. Moon was alive, and she was in pretty good state. The tips of her metallic feathers were still red-hot from overheating. A group of rescuers ran to her with medical equipment to be able to quickly check her condition.
- Excuse me Miss! Is everything OK? Maybe it would be better if we take you to the hospital for observation?
Moon didn't know what to say. She still couldn't think. The crowd cheered.
- Sand Sky receives a special prize for the biggest show!
- Sand Sky? Sand sky! It's me! - shouted the indignant Pegasus from afar.
- What a electrifying event! - The commentator continued. - We are witnessing the birth of a new sport star! Wait...
His assistant interrupted by giving him a card with the starting list.
- And indeed. I think someone forgot to put you on the list. Excuse me, young lady, what's your name? - asked the announcer.
- Moon .. Lighting Moon! - the mare answered.
- Lighting? Toxic, I think. Look at the color of her mane! It emits light! Cool! - one young filly from the audience shouted.
Lightning energy healed her and she became really strong. The lightning on her side wasn’t a cutie mark, just a scar from its impact. Burned scar, which with Moon age began to lengthen, until at some point it covered her entire leg from hip to hoof. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever and the energy that she was given began to weaken with age, her hair stopped radiating, became brighter and the glow weakened. Toxic Moon (nickname) has lost her supernatural strength. Despite this, she could still fly at quite a dizzying speed. After a few years, she made friends with a younger filly who proposed to her a new name on that fateful day. Toxic trained ponies for flying competitions and it became her greatest passion. At last she could fly, and the sense of lack of gravity overwhelmed her forever.
