Description
Heres something that I've had in mind for a long time. The native sophonts of Snaiad--the oun-gon-ra. I know NR made Snaiad with no sentient life, but I've always wondered...For those who don't know Snaiadi morphology, they have two heads (first for reproduction, second for eating), hydraulic muscles, and nostrils under the armpits.
The oun-gon-ra are believed to have evolved from a distant ancestor which branched off from the line leading to heterostomes. Their genital-sheath "jaws" are greatly reduced, and the tentecles on their first head are derived from genital muscles. They now have four nostrils. The large nostrils on their sides branched off to serve in effective communication. Oun-Gon-Ra can alter the surface temperature of certain areas of their bodies for subtle communication as well. They can also send vibrations through the ground to communicate over long distances. Their language is beautiful to the point of being hypnotic to humans because they speak in stereo. They use tentecles on their first and second heads for tool manipulation.
The individual shown here is a male waving his exrended genitals in polite greeting.

Very cool design! I love how the second head has evolved into a manipulator.

I enjoy this concept quite alot (I have always entertained the thought of a snaiadi sentient), however, I do not think the tenacles you have non the first head would have evolved. I ccould understand if they themselves were the genetalia, but becat sepertley, it does not seem conceivable. no other snaiad vertebrates exibit such 'firsts', well..
could you explain your reasoning hehind them?

I invisioned the ancestors of the oun-gon-ra as gneralist omnivores. They began in pinnacle ranges; the tentale-tongues on the second-heads were used to grasp and pull up grassy filiments of sprog as well as to probe into the holes of sprog for small snacks. They frist used flag-like genetils for visual communication and sexual identification. As they moved into pinnacles, they used these muscular organs to reach up to pull down nutritous leaves. This allowed them a wide rande of foods, and they managed to survive climate changes. They are social creatures which relied on complex communication to organize themselves to defend aginst advanced predators like fuckers and kaydrons. This gave them the intelligence to make tools and develop a civilization to eventually colonize other worlds.

allright, that seems plausable, but you still have not explained exactly how the tentacles of the first head came to evolve... I mean, no other snaiadi animal exibits apendages of that sort, and the genatles could not really have diversified into that in such a specialised way (unless there are others from a similar period in snaiad history that demonstrate similar adaptations), and there is no other anatomical structure in the first head that would seem to have been able to develop into musculkar tentacles...
eh, regardless, I still enjoy the concept!

Thanks for the feedback, it gets my mind goin!
I should do some anatomical studies, but hey, I'm lazy (haha-joke)!

Mucho Gracias!!!!
By the way, Snaiad belongs to Nemo Ramjet. The oun-gon-ra themselves are mine however.
