Description
The Good Day Sir - Once you know his name, he knows yours. Someday, he will find you and speak to you as though you both are friends. He will know much about you. If you don’t know the same of him, he will consider you a bad friend–and we can’t have a world with bad friends. If you survive the encounter, you can remove the curse from yourself by passing his name to someone else. Finally, I am free. Good luck.
The Prohissor - The Prohissor is an ancient board game given life. Scholars and archaeologists from across the globe have visited their ancient Egyptian tomb for a taste of their supposedly infinite knowledge. However, almost none have left the tomb alive. Not because The Prohissor maliciously lures and traps people, but because they are too enthusiastic about sharing their informative game with anyone willing to listen. After all, the more one learns about the world, the more difficult it is to return.
The Mermaybe - On a fishing trip with her father, The Mermaybe’s legs were consumed by a giant fish, who perished while trying to finish its meal. The Mermaybe died as well, but was later revived by the lake’s “supernatural properties”–which are likely a product of waste dumped into the water. Nonetheless, The Mermaybe has embraced her circumstances, relishing the droves of fans who mistake her for a true mermaid. This is much to the chagrin of her father, who is stricken with guilt and tries to protect her by driving her obsessive fans away.
The Gift - I have two children: a daughter who loves unicorns and a son who loves dinosaurs. I also have a brother who happens to be something of a mad scientist. This year, I told him quite sternly: he was to bring no gifts to my kids’ birthday party. He arrived with this…monstrosity, saying, “you said no ‘gifts,’ plural. Oh, and also…tell your kids not to look inside the horse’s mouth.”
The Skeleton Key - The robotic Skeleton Key guards an ancient vault packed with immeasurable wealth. Their body also happens to be the vault’s key, only becoming usable once the Skeleton Key themself falls in love. Only those with the finances or status to access the vault have tried their hand at romancing the robot–but all of them have failed. Inscribed on the vault’s door is the following clue: “To unlock the door, you must come for the key.”
The Boogiemen - It is said that if one parties too late at night, their nose will be infested by the party-loving Boogiemen, who will clog their sinuses and airways until they suffocate. This is the sort of urban legend told to scare children into good behavior, but the story is actually true–just not exactly how it has been solidified in folklore. The Boogiemen actually inhabit a frog called Bruce the Bouncer, who has a freakishly large nose. He seems unharmed by the arrangement, but no one has ever asked his opinion…
The Milk - Email from sharongXXXX@famail.com [Sharon], dated 1/6/XXXX: “Hey Winnie, you remember when milk cartons had missing kids on them? Thought they got rid of those, something about ‘scaring the children,’ but I found one at the store this morning. Gerald thinks I’m nuts for bringing it home. Guess I was drawn to it somehow. But he also thinks the kid looks like me. Who’s the crazy one now? XD”
Note: email is dated five days before Sharon was reported missing.
The Owl-Eyed - The Owl-Eyed was once a benevolent fairy who found humans adorable, making deals with them for their benefit. However, he underestimated their cleverness, and striking a deal with the wrong mortal cost him his eyes. His primary set, anyway. Now, The Owl-Eyed uses the numerous eyes scattered across his wings to perceive human souls and gauge their strength. If a soul is weak and malleable enough, he may just strike a “deal” with its owner.
The Masochist - His sign reads: “25 cents to hit.” Would you do it? He likes it, you know. He wouldn’t be doing this if he didn’t enjoy it. If he could speak, he’d probably say, “Please hit me. Please. I’m begging you.” It would actually be cruel of you to say no. So do it. Release all that unnecessary stress. That pent up rage and hate. Why deal with it yourself when you can push it on others? Do it. Hit him. Hit him, you twisted son of a bitch.
The Bus - The Bus is a husk of a school bus, possessed by its former driver. She was driving under the influence of alcohol during her shift and caused a horrific accident. Most of her passengers, including herself, perished, but some of them have grown up to live their lives. The survivors claim that The Bus will occasionally visit them, usually when they are lost, alone, or depressed, offering them a ride. None of them have said yes, so it is difficult to determine the spirit’s intentions.
The Tats - When a demon forges a contract with a mortal, the circle used to summon the demon is etched into their body. This implies that The Tats is among the most dangerous and merciless demons, but mortals who summon demons are not usually mentally well, and The Tats is just a friendly guy willing to provide them a much-needed friend. Unfortunately, other demons are displeased by how The Tats has been narrowing their job prospects.
The Puppeteer(s) - The Puppeteer(s) was once a regular circus performer–well, as regular as one could be. His sock puppets, Hans Topper (purple) and Faff (yellow) were simply characters in an act. However, as his anxiety worsened, the performer relied on his characters with increasing frequency until he stopped removing himself from the performance altogether. The constant squabbling of the performer’s puppets eventually got him kicked from the circus. Hans and Faff will only argue more fervently if someone mentions their host’s concerning condition.
