Description This is the final version of the very first Superman illustration that I posted at DeviantART. I decided to revisit this piece with a new inking style (with heavier lines). I also reworked the "S" emblem and completely redrew the cape, as I felt both lacked a certain flair in the original version. I also touched up the colour to make the overall image appear bolder. This, I think, will be the basis for my Golden Age Heroes web site (which is currently still under development).

Actually, this particular illustration was done using conventional pencil sketching combined with two drawing programs: Coreldraw and Adobe Photoshop. In Coreldraw, I do the inking and that allows the black lines to be crisp and clear when the image is exported as a Photoshop PSD file. Then I can work on adding the colour (in layers) using both the path tool and the magic wand tool (to rope off the various sections).

Ho man, this is awesome. The lineart is very sweet, but I must say the coloring job is exquisitely marvelous. What method did you use? Is it the one where you make "slices" into a flat where you want detail and screen/multiply accordingly?
