Description
This is yet another pen and ink project. It is based on a figure I saw in a dream.I wanted to portray the image of beauty that so many women strive to become--shattered, in the mirror.
What the figure represents is the result of self-loathing and the constant torture that so many women around us endure.
It is what their bodies come to look like after their irrational physical conditioning to become what our society has come to call "Beauty", thus the title.
You'll also notice the slit wrist...this was my attempt at emphasizing the sadness and depression that accompanies a woman's inability to become an image of perfection that cannot be acheived.
I hope you guys can appreciate the meaning as well as the art.

I dislike your pretensions. Skeletal people are sick, yes. They always tried to say though that Kate Moss was anorexic, and she was never really horrendous, or morbidly thin. Society is rather strange right now. It's difficult to find a life-style in touch with everything that a person should be.

With all due respect, this image was a broad generalization to the problems many women suffer from. It was not a direct commentary on any single female figure, and the exaggerated emaciation is surely something scarcely seen in the real world.
I think it would have pretentious to to presume that all women undergo this kind of self inflicted physical treatment.
But as it stands, I only stated that many face it.
You're absolutely right in stating that society IS weird right now. So many views twist so many perspectives around.
But for a social view that can harm so many people...
I wish people weren't so easily influenced to hurt themselves for the sake of 'looking good'.

Wonderful. This picture really speaks to me, because I've been in that place. I know what that feels like, to strive to be skinny and do whatever you have to because you think that it'll make you beautiful. And when you can't, you hurt yourself. It takes a long time to get that bad, and the recovery is even longer. This picture, though, could help some people who need it.

i really liked the way you portrayed "beauty" nowadays exagerating the figure so much. and the fact that you cannot see the face makes me think that problems like anorexia and bulimia can happen to anyone of us....
