Description
[[explanation: i always really love to see the process of how other artists work, so i'm going to try and start uploading mine for any art that takes longer than a couple of hours. hopefully someone out there will get some benefit out of it.plus, it helps me in case i ever forget how i did something. >.>]]
1. i drew my basic wireframe over in corel painter. i cannot draw people without doing this! i start with a basic skeleton in the pose that i need, along with lines describing what the flow of the image & balance of the figure is supposed to be. what you see here is how it looks after i've added basic volume and "muscles" onto the "bones."
2. i brought down the opacity on the wireframe layer and created a new layer. on this i drew in a different color (easier to see) how the clothing would fit and flow, along with a more definite and cleaned-up version of the drawing. i ditched the wireframe layer.
3. i saved the image and opened in photoshop, my favorite program to shade in. i put a colored bg on the bottom layer and set my drawing layer to multiply. i used just a 1px brush and drew lots and LOTS of lines to help flesh everything out and add some shading. (as i go, i always make new layers so that i can easily get rid of any shading & so on i shouldn't have done). to add subtle color to different areas, i used a bigger brush with very low opacity on a new layer.
4. when i was done, i adjusted the colors & such with brightness/contrast and curves, since the colors had gotten a little dull and needed help.
that's it! i feel a little silly writing this since probably no one will see it... and i hope no one thinks i'm trying to say "my work is so awesome that everyone must know how i do it".. not so!
