Description
The Tesla Eleven Deep-space ship for Research and Innovation is named after Nikola Tesla. The Russian counterpart of Edison. The ship is about 500 metres long and is equipped with high-tech warp drives, a big tech-lab, huge power cells and a pretty good defence system. The Energy core is located in front of the ship. As you can see.
The lab is the top part of the ship in front of the bridge, wich is located at a higher level. This huge vessel is used for everything. Like searching for new planets and species. The ship usually carries a team of 100-120 scientists and a crew of roughly 80 men. The living compartiments are located under the lab and bridge.
Captain Voyar is standing in front of the window on the bridge. Just gazing at the stars. (that's what he likes to do most)

Thats awesome! Did you use a 3d program to make that?

Thank you so much! Jup I used a program called Cinema 4D. It's really fun to do! The background is made in Photoshop though

That looks really awesome love the starfield background too. A bit unusual having the power core at the front.

Thanks!! Yeah I know! I guess it just looked cool haha! It also provides a little light! And powers up the weapons quickly if needed!

Yeah it's nice to see a different Idea, a salute you for it. Any tips for designing ships? I'm still trying to develop my 3d skills but my biggest problem is with texturing right now. I haven't made a ship in a long time.

Hey friend! First of all. What kind of programm are you using? I'm using cinema4D. I can just drag textures on the ship, mess with the configurations, and I'm done. as easy as it is. Most 3d programs have lot's of textures that you can use already. So I think that is not the biggest problem. I think with modelling ships it's important to let your imagination do the job. Just start with a shape you like and build it out. I normally use a lot of symmetry objects. It's really easy to use and you get a nice symmetrical space ship. I also try to make a lot of detail usually by making an object out of a cilinder. And then tweak it around so it looks tecnnical. Most of the time I copy that object in different lengths and positions. spares me a lot of work. If you look closely to this ship you see that most of the objects are looking the same. Only the length and the colors may be different.
I hope this is useful, despite my crappy english!
Good luck mate

I use Blender 3d. It's free that's why I use it. I hate doing UVs but I've gotten better at it. C4ds way sounds so easy. Thanks for the tips on modelling, i'll try that.
Crappy English? I didn't even know english wasn't your native language until I read your comment and saw that your from the Netherlands on your profile cause it's really good.

wow thank you so much. Yeah UV maps. I never tried that haha. I have blender but I think it's difficult to use. You could download a trial version of C4D if that's available? Then you can do some tutorials and see if you like it

Yeah blender's one of the most difficult to learn but it's the most powerfull freeware 3d program on the market that's why it's so popular. Interesting note is that despite the problems with Blender's UV editor and texturing (which is now a bit easier thankfully) many who use 3ds Max build their models in 3ds and then texture them with Blender.
I thought about trying c4d but I think I'll stick with blender since I've come so far with it. My modeling is just one hobby of many so I'm not willing to spend much money on it. I'll keep c4d in mind though and maybe give it another look.
