this is a Apapane a type of Honey Creeper Native to Hawaiʻi at one time Hawaiians used the feathers of this and many other native birds to make the capes helmets leiʻs and even a few Kiʻi the feathers are about the size of a dime so u can imagine the dedication an effort that went into them before contact the birds were never harmed for their feathers specialists would spend months in the mountains trapping and releasing these truly beautiful creatures
