Well, here we go. I know way back when I submitted Danny Phantom Cosplay 1, which featured Ember McLain, Penelope Spectra and Desiree strutting their cosplay stuff, I promised that it would be the start of a series, featuring eventually all the Danny Phantom characters (or at least most of them). And I'm sure there are many of you who have been waondering at this point "When's the guy gonna get up off his lazy butt and start adding to it already?"Well, in response to your question, that answer is, "Now". Here we come to the second pic in my Danny Phantom Cosplay series (which can now officially be called a series, seeing as how there's more than one picture now). This time, it's Danny and Sam's turn to enter the Photo Room at Amity Park's anime con.
And they're both definitely dressed for the occasion. Sam, never turning away from an opportunity to let her bad girl out, is stepping out as the "Anti-Chun-Li" herself, Juri Han, one of the newest (and possibly most psychotic) additions to the Street Fighter roster. Danny, meanwhile, has come to the party as Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon, opting to accompany Sam as a more dashing figure. All in all, I think they both pull it off nicely.
Of course, that's just my opinion. Please feel free to let me know what you all think. I know I'm happy with how the pic turned out. I hope everyone else feels the same.

UPDATE: For anyone who's already seen this pic, you might notice a slight change. But I think you'll all agree, it's a good one. I can't speak for everyone else, but I know that absurdly long neck I accidentally gave to Danny has been driving me crazy for months. So today, I finally decided to do something about it. I'm generally iffy about editing a pic once I've resized it, save for minor touch-ups. But in this case, I decided enough was enough. And actually, it didn't take very long. All it needed was a little shifting and just a bit of cleanup. But in the end, I think it's a far better picture for it. Hope you all agree.

Yeah, I just really hate Sailor Moon. I realized why you did it that way right after I posted it. It still is really good and I did enjoy the picture, I just really don't like the anime...
Also, how? How was she going to pull of batman epic-ness with a guy who throws indestructable freaking roses?

Well, I can see that the anime version of Tuxedo Mask is all you were exposed to, which is a shame, because his original manga version was FAR superior.Β I'll avoid a 20 minute rant here by pointing out certain things that he did in the manga that the anime didn't really touch on (since all they wanted to focus on were the hot ladies).
- He had an ability called psychometry, which pretty much, means he can analyze anything just by touching it.
- He could generate an aura from his hands, allowing him to heal injuries (much like Sailor Saturn...the anime LIGHTLY touched on this, but didn't go out of their way to really explain it much).Β He could also redirect that aura outward to launch energy attacks (NONE of which involved roses...that was the anime's hang-up).
- In the Super S storyline, it was revealed the Tuxedo Mask was the true holder of the Golden Crystal, not Chibi Usa, as the anime portrayed.Β The Golden Crystal also had NOTHING to do with dreams in the manga.Β The story basically told that the Silver Crystal and the Golden Crystal were basically two halves of the same whole.Β So when their powers were combined, they became greater than the sum of their parts.
The anime also did a lot of foolish things with him that DIDN'T happen in the manga, but this is enough for now.Β The manga was also superior in other portrayals, such as Uranus and Neptune.Β While the anime portrayed them as self-destructive zealots who tried to kill themselves at every opportunity that presented itself, the manga gave them a much softer touch.Β They simply didn't want the Inner Sailors involved during the S storyline because the threat was from the Outer Solar System and they didn't feel right that the Inner Sailors should have to clean up their mess.
Well, believe me, I could go on, but trust me.Β You don't want THAT Pandora's Box opening up.Β I'm not trying to convince you that you'll suddenly like Sailor Moon now.Β I'm just saying that the original manga WAS a lot better.Β Well...except for maybe the Stars storyline.Β Naoko Takeuchi kind of went off the rails a bit with that one.

Oh. It all makes sense now... I tried reading the manga at one point but it is extremly hard to find. And the bits I did find were translated strangely, making the thing hard to read.

Well, actually, there is a reprint of the manga series currently being done right now.Β The only thing is, they're being printed in 12 volumes instead of the original 18, which means that they're not going to show the original one-shot stories that Naoko Takeuchi wrote specifically for the collected volumes (kind of a shame...I've read a few and they were quite entertaining).Β I have heard tell that an anime reboot is coming down the pike, though.Β With any luck, it'll be much closer to the original manga than the anime was.
But yeah, like I said, the manga is far superior to the anime.Β The only possible exception would be the Sailor Stars storyline, mostly because Naoko Takeuchi didn't really explain why certain events were happening as much as she should have.Β Most of what occurs, we kind of just have to take for granted that they're happening just because they're happening and not ask any questions.

I won't be checking it out, sorry. Β I'm just not a fan of the characters or the "magical girl" genre itself. Β I watched it in middle school, I realize that it's an important part of anime history and I give it props for still having such a big fan-base; but I have to bow out. Β It just isn't my thing.

I get it.Β I had no illusions that you would.Β I just brought it up as a topic of conversation.
It is true, though, that Sailor Moon is an important part of anime history...at least here in the West.Β If she hadn't come along, I doubt anime would be as mainstream as it is today.Β It would probably still mostly be a niche industry.Β Yeah, Dragonball helped, too.Β But in my opinion, Sailor Moon is what really helped pave the way.

Well, like I say, Sam was the tougher of the two to place. I knew right off the bat that I wanted to draw Danny as Tuxedo Mask (I mean, come on, look at the guy). But Sam, I had a really tough time finding a character for. The truth is, the thought of dressing her as Juri was actually a complete bolt out of the blue for me. But then, I guess the best ideas always are. I mean, I'll grant that Juri is probably a little on the slutty side for Sam's taste. But she's also one of the few character that fits and that she could actually pull off.

Well, this would be where I'd probably dial it back. I don't think Danny or Sam would go to that extreme unless he gave them a pretty good reason to.

Glad you like it. Yeah, Danny as Tuxedo Mask was pretty much a no-brainer. Sam was the tougher one to find a cosplay candidate for. Of course, I'm still hardly done. There are other cosplay pics on the way, featuring DP characters. And I think most everyone will like some of the ideas I've thought up.^_^

Well, for the record, Tuxedo Mask is a lot better in the original manga than he is in the anime, but you REALLY don't want to get me started on that. Other than that objection, do you think the pic is alright?

Well, let's face it, it doesn't get much more obvious than that. I knew Danny was going to be Tuxedo Mask from Day One, basically. In truth, Sam was the harder one to find a cosplay candidate for.

Well, she could have pulled off Sailor Saturn, but that would have felt inappropriate, since Tuxedo Mask is with Sailor Moon. So a Sailor was definitely out of the question. I came up with a couple of other ideas, but they just felt like cop-outs and were really only going to be used as a last resort if I couldn't think of anything better. In fact, I can't even remember any of those other ideas now (which should be an indicator of just how much I didn't care for them).
Then the idea of Juri hit me like a bolt out of the blue. In the end, I guess most of my better ideas always do. While Sam probably wouldn't go for some of the sluttier aspects of Juri's personality, Juri is still basically the "Anti-Chun-Li". And as we all know, Sam never shies away from an opportunity to be "anti-things". So it really felt perfect in the end.

Yeah, again, it wouldn't have felt appropriate. But even though Sam is cosplaying as Juri, Chun-Li will still be getting some love. A friend of mine actually suggested cosplaying Kitty Katswell as Chun-Li, which I'll probably do once the rest of my DP cosplay pics are done. There's at least four more I'm planning.

I think so. There are still a couple other pics I want to focus on before that, though. One, I'll be doing the pencil work for, so I can get to scanning and coloring it as soon as possible, once the time is right. After that, though, I'll be moving on to my next pic. With luck, this one should be another quickie and I think some people are going to get a good laugh out of it.

Well, one you'll see sooner than the other, obviously. The pic I want to do the pencil work for is actually for my upcoming commemorative pic, celebrating my Gallery receiving 10,000 Hits. Of course, it's not there quite yet, but it will be before too much longer. Of course if you want to see the pic sooner, you could always get people you know to check out my Gallery.
But seriously, the next pic I'll be posting will probably be up before the weekend is out (assuming that I hopefully don't run into any distractions).
