Description Day 28 - Draw what a Descendant of a Dinosaur might look like today (Birds are cheating)!
These four species are native to the large grassy steppes which had formed in central North America by the early Miocene, about 21 million years ago. From left to right, top to bottom:

A three-tonne leptoceratopian, the largest herbivore of the plains.

A cursorial thescelosaurid. They roam the plains in fast-moving herds, and use the white plumes on their tail tips to remain in contact with one another.

A large, cursorial troodontid. They're the most common predator of the prairie, and live in loose fission-fusion groups.

An alvarezsaur which has developed a mutualistic relationship with burrowing multituberculates. The dinosaurs, with their superior vision, act as sentries for the mammals in return for shelter within their dens. They feed on insects and form leks during the mating season.
