Amusing, but "Don't share, just link here" on a picture which could easily contain a [link] URL but doesn't is probably the easiest way in the world to get on my bad side.
Among other things, it's hypocritical and counter-productive. A LOT of people will ignore your request and when they do, the lack of a URL will probably keep their friends and forum-mates from finding you. (because, in general, people tend to be lazy)

I should probably change the wording to "link back to this image," instead of "here."
And I know they'll ignore it. Every once and a while, I just say it again anyway in the off chance someone will listen.
Besides, most of them, if the URL was in the description, would make the GENIUS move of copying the text [link] and ending up with a link that is essentially a useless bit of text in brackets. They can get the URL from the address bar, like most people.

My point is that it really gets on my bad side when people deny redistribution rights.

It gets on my bad side when people take art, stick it up on their sites and say "I made this!111!lol1" when the original artist's signature is plainly viewable.
It gets on my bad side when they don't stop to take a minute and ask if it'd be okay to use it (because I swear they think artists might bring out their lazers and zap them for daring to ask the great OZ, when some will actually listen and say yes or no).
It gets on my bad side when people think just because one person hasn't seen it, no one has and therefore they must download it and reupload it on every forum on the internet without even bothering to say "Oh, by the way, I found this on/I didn't draw this..."

My point is that they'll do that no matter what you say, so by not putting the URL in the image, you're just hurting yourself and by asking people to not share it, you're just inconveniencing the people who are actually courteous enough to care.

I used to put my email on them. Then I realized it was more effective to just watermark my name on the image, considering my username and not my URL goes in the keywords.
And, you know what, I don't have to be "convenient" for people who don't have the stones to just ask me if it'd be okay.

In the United States, copyright terms currently last the life of the author plus an additional 90 years and they're trying to spread that to the rest of the world.
What happens when you're no longer available to be asked, whether through death or "life happens" busyness? This is already a big problem. (Look up "orphaned works")

I know that. (Also, Orphaned works is stalled in its tracks - has been for years.)
Even if I am not able to reply immediately, the fact that they asked is extremely important to me. It's courteous and it shows that they respect my wishes enough to consider my feelings regarding use of my work. I'm more likely to let them use it if they ask, just as I am more likely to ask site admins to remove my images if the poster didn't ask.
When I am dead, it will be my children's problem.
Besides, the entire purpose of the discussion is moot: the dA watermark with my http address shows up at fullview.

Ahh, sorry. I hadn't noticed the URL. I was too busy ignoring the watermark so I could enjoy the content. (No joke. My mind operates on controlled tunnel-vision sometimes.)
As for you view on copyright when you're dead, my main problem with that is that, as the admin of the Vanished FanFic Archive, I know all too well how easy it is for a work to become orphaned.
