Description
Nope. I get nothing from them .This is what it's actually supposed to look like IRL.
A note: Yes, I did hand draw this before I inked it digitally, with the full intent of trying to match style as closely as possible (something I only now do by request, since people tend to assume you trace if you do too well at style matching). All the digital art I do starts the same way my traditional art does - pencil and paper. You are INVITED to watch me work on my livestream and at conventions or meetups. I am not shy about my sketchbook at all and will generally let you flip through it if your hands are clean.
If you want an icon/avatar from either of their faces, or if you want to use the costumes in a fanfic or cosplay, just ASK ME FIRST, out of respect to me. If you save a copy, DO NOT EDIT OR REPOST it elsewhere, I will find out. If you cosplay these costumes, I want to see pictures, so hook me up with links!
And if you don't like the pairing, keep it to yourself!
On to the art notes...
A most bastardly amount of paths, griping, eyestrain, caffiene, insomnia, hand cramps and research went into making what would otherwise just be a "here's a new costume - what colors am I using?" sheet.
Yes, I referenced their poses. I wanted to make sure their heights stayed in proportion to each other and used references that were sized similarly and approximated the same rough proportions as I suspect they would have as adults (and the boobs of a woman who has had a kid, in Sakura's case).
In both costumes, I wanted to change them into something more mature, while keeping elements of both Naruto and Sakura's original and Shippuden costumes. Additionally, I like to think that their respective sensei's have some influence on their personalities and general affect, since that appears to be where the series is heading at times.
Sakura's costume: I'm not 100% satisfied with the upper part. It's missing something on the front and I think it needs some sort of decoration. Maybe I'll add black flames on both sides of the v-neck. What I drew her in in the "Inner Hana" drawing is mostly what I was running on here, except not chibi. The white circles on her overskirt balance out the white cloth underneath, which I wasn't sure I wanted originally, but after twenty attempts to get her damn knee and thighs right I said "the white cloth thing is back in." The belt is deliberately not centered and tapering to accenuate her waist. I like Kabuto's gloves, so she ended up with one of those style gloves.
Naruto's costume (and his hair): His hair is a slightly shorter version of Yondaime's. I just tend to draw Naruto that way anyway: older and with longer hair. The Pimp - er, Hokage cape combines elements of Jiraiya's flame edged, trimmed genin costume with the Fourth's cape (I'm beginning to think Jiraiya was behind the Fourth's cape - yay for presents!), namely the flame patterning on the edges and sleeves, the continuous maroon trim and the addition of "Rokudaime Hokage" on the back (which was a BITCH AND A HALF to do with paths). Why the off white pants? Because regular white and cream would have looked crappy. Also, at this point, it was too dark on his half of the image with the flames on the cape and the dark blue lining. His jacket is a plain black jacket, similiar to the one he's wearing in Shippuden, only sans orange. Ah, the green "seal" rope on his arm with the tag tied on it serves a function in battle and he doesn't have to wear it all the time. I made his black headband ties a bit longer than before.
Now, as to why I put it on the cheesy scroll background and set it up to resemble some sort of missive - EYESTRAIN. THE WHITE BACKGROUND WAS MAKING MY EYES BLEED. Also, I have always wanted to write "Armed and Dangerous" next to them, lol.
I need a fricking TABLET.
EDIT: fixed a minor grammatical error that was annoying me and several shading/misc errors.
EDIT2: Fixed some more minor shading things and made Sakura's shading a little more contrasty for printing. You won't even notice, probably.

That's why I'm strongly recommending people who want it either commission it from a reliable tailor or seamstress or make it themselves (which is what I'm doing).

I looked on Cosplay Magic and they actually do have your art pictured on their website, no changes were made, it's exactally how it looks on the picture, and I'm actually getting it, it looks that cool, and there's an anime convention here in KY soon, so that's another reason I'm getting it. So basically pretty much supporting your art in the real world. I'm probably gonna pull it off pretty well though. I love the art work alot actually, and I'm not gonna say a damn thing about the pair....

No, they were supposed to keep a link back to my website on the page. That link's gone now and that's what I'm pissed about (aside from the fact I make absolutely no money whatsoever from them selling it).
Please, try to make it on your own, or commission it from a quality tailor or seamstress stateside. You'll get a much better product that way, one that will actually fit you accurately.

I don't know any tailors here in KY that would make that, and making it on my own would be hard since I've gotta few problems.. i.e. tourettes, add, adhd, and ocd, so it would be hard for me to work a sewing machine, and actually finding the material would be kinda hard, and very expensive. This way, all I have to do is give them my messurments(which would be the best way to to do it), and besides the fact that I wouldn't have that much money for someone stateside to actually tailor it for me. But all in all, excellent art work. And since it's your art work that they are making, they should give you some compensation from the company to you, or sue em. That's what I'd do. I showed my grandmother the drawing, she loved it actually. I dunno if I wanna do that or spend $390 on a Genesis outfit which is all leather >< or go with the "orange track suit"(I found that rather funny). But I've got seven months to decide who and what I'm going as, hell, I might even go as Soubi if I can find some art work to copy from. I've gotta get my glasses fixed, or buy a pair of 1.00's cheap. But either way, love the art, and if I get it, I get it. I'll let you know if I do or not. ttyl!

Search around the cosplay.com forums. There are a number of good reliable people there who can help and probably find a way to make the costume at a lower or equal cost. And yes, you'd also be giving them, or any tailor, the same measurements. I know the one I'm making for myself will come out to about the same cost, but will be more detailed, sturdier, actually fit me and actually will have me ending up with three extra lined bags and a second pair of pants out of the leftover materials.
I can't sue them, they are in Hong Kong, which is the black hole of copyright and so far out of jurisdiction it's not worth it. And they were supposed to give me compensation, but they went back on the deal.
I can tell you what cosplaymagic uses is not leather - pleather, most likely, but real leather? Definitely not. And I may be a beginner at sewing, but wow, even I don't leave threads hanging all over the place. In the long run, it's your money, so I'll just advise you to be a smarter shopper than they take you for.

That whole fiasco is ridiculous. I don't even want to get into it. Just - argh.
xD People are guilty of jumping to conclusions. I'm the least-famous famous Naruto fanartist there is. Probably because I don't post 8 billion images a month, xD.
I've some other keen outfit designs for Naruto characters floating around in my gallery, too. I'm hopelessly addicted to making them fabulous. XD

I'm tired of dealing with them. I'll say something, they'll give me the broken engrish runaround like they did last time, and I'll still get shafted in the end.
Better that I make a superior quality item on my own and feel like I've done something productive than waste time chasing around these Hong Kong morons.

Migitmd In reply to TwinEnigma [2009-03-19 11:22:40 +0000 UTC]
If you started to do that, they'd lose business on their end for that product. Shame you can't legally fight them or anything...though they are making a bit considering how much it costs.
Shitty product that's expensive done by foreigners or all-American high quality product that doesn't cost as much? that's a tough one *rolls eyes*
So when will you start taking orders?

TwinEnigma In reply to Migitmd [2009-03-19 12:48:40 +0000 UTC]
Sometimes once people either get the money to commission something better or learn how to make this stuff on their own, they get the hell away from sites like that.
All-American product with pockets, man. Pockets. In the actual lining of the coat. Functional ones. Let me finish making mine (and maybe find a new sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch so I can make nice appliques) and then see about taking orders.

Someone posted this elsewhere. I hate art thieves. Here's the link, I reported it.

Dunno where he got that Sasuke from, though. This guy steals lots of art, this is the third one I found.
By the way, awesome art. Love Sakura's design!

Thank you for doing that and telling me.
The Sasuke appears to be a coloration of a scan from the manga - I think the chapter where they infiltrate Orochimaru's base? Yeah. Pretty sure that's the chapter.
Thank you. I'm actually planning to refine the concept further and do a few more for other characters. ^^

No problem! I actually found a pretty picture on the front page and clicked it,and it led to a thieved version of some other person's art (WITH the watermark)
And, I looked through his gallery and found loads of thieved arts. I recognized the Sakura (I've seen it on ads xD) and reported it. The rest of this guy's stuff is probably thieved too, they are all in random different styles...
Gah, he probably stole the Sasuke too. x( I hope he gets banned. He was cussing and calling me a stupid b*tch when I was telling him he stole and stuff.DX It's on one of my previous journals. (I screencapped it before it got deleted)
Refine! Awesome! Can't wait. :3

Oh it's hilarious when they don't even TRY to get rid of the watermark. Yes, his gallery is all stolen material, except for the crappy writing. D8 I recognize most of the work in there.
If you haven't already, you can try reporting the user to the help desk through the dA FAQ and make note that all the images are stolen (and that the user does not intend to quit stealing).
It might be a while. I got other projects on my plate at the moment. But, it will include more action poses.

I saw his gallery, the only stuff up there is the crappy writing and a baby picture of someone. Geez, if this guy wants to be a writer at least have correct capitalization and punctuation. xD
Well, I'm glad all the stuff got deleted. I'll keep an eye on him, and if he submits another theft, then I'll totally report him for banning. (That won't be long.)
Take your time! The art is very nice, it probably takes forever.
