Stephen King disses Stephenie Meyer - source: [link]In the same interview he praises J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter series.
He also praised Koushin Takami's Battle Royale in a cover blurb.
I'm not a big fan of Stephen King, his works are largely hit-and-miss with me, but I acknowledge he is a brilliant writer. My most favourite work of his is the Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption novella and the film version is pretty poor in comparison.
In any case, King's word is gold!

It was such and interesting idea and SM goes and vomits all over it. If we combine JK Rowling's style and experience with SMs idea, we would have an appealing series.

Yes definitely. I mean, the consept of twilight is pretty good (except the whole Sparkly-vamps and no fangs thing)and if the series was just written by an able and talented author, it would be much more interesting.

Then again its not as if the modern vampires aren't dull compared with the originals. The traditional romanian myths had then turning into owls and wolves rather than puny little bats, and by no means were they shy of sunlight 8and they didn't sparkled either)

Meyer's target audience are really only one type of person lol. I'm glad he praises Rowling as she is quite a good writer. Wow, imagine getting praise from King? xD

And Twitards are trying to boycott his books until he takes back what he says? Ha! They obviously don't know how long King's career is and how he got to be where he is. He puts a lot of effort into what he does (it took him FOUR YEARS to write It). Stephenie Meyer put little or no effort into her work (Twilight was written in six months). In my opinion, it is quality over popularity. For Twihards, it's the other way around. They think just because Twilight is popular, that makes it the best literary work ever written. I can admit that King isn't exactly Shakespeare but his work is of amazing quality which is why he is praised by so many people.
The same goes for JK Rowling and many other excellent writers. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good.

Hi just to let you all know I have been an avid reader of vampire books for at least 20 years, I have watched the likes of Bela Lugosi,and Christopher Lee Playing the count since the age of nine,Brad Pitt as Luis in Interview.
Also Luis Jordan as the very unforgettable Count in the Brhamm Stoker adaptation for tv..
All were excellent and had me enthralled.
I have tried to read Twilight and also tried to watch the movie ( both a waste of my time and money) definitely not for me.

I rather enjoyed the violence in Battle Royale. I always seem to pick up the books Stephen King likes anyway. Harry Potter is what got me into reading, so to me its awesome. I definitely was amused by Stephen King's comment. He is the voice of truth

The twiturd reactions to "Meyers can't write worth a darn" are hilarious. I agree with the King, he knows how to write and you can't blame him for dissing Meyers. Harry Potter is also a very well written and enjoyable series and Battle Royale is one of my all time faves.
