So, I got an interesting crossover ship request in the comments of my recent deviation from Dumbwolfy and let's just say that the more I thought about it, the more I liked it, so I ship Sam and CatNap now.
My friend @amethystoceandespiser and I were talking about it, and I suggested inspiration from the Teen Titans (2003) episode called "Spellbound," Come Play (2020 film), and Imaginary (2024 film).
And then my friend suggested that Sam's parents buy the toy, thinking that it would help her sleep with its original purpose. IT works, but they are worried about how happy their daughter seems to be towards the content of those dreams that sound like nightmares, so they hide it from Sam, and this is where she got her gothic origin. Years later, she finds the doll again and starts to hang around it more. Sam's friends are worried about how overly attached she seems to be to it and about finding the doll in random places without noticing the doll move around at all.
