Description
Aurora was the patron goddess of the Aurorans, where they get their name. She's a goddess of protection and motherhood, and the Aurorans saw themselves as her children. While the first Auroran Caesar was an elected general, Caesars from then on out were succeeded in a ritual where the high priest of Aurora would select and crown the next emperor in a grandiose ceremony at dawn. Aurora was even often worshipped in the neighboring Leopan Kingdom, where she was known as Eos. In the later life of the Auroran Empire, certain pagan beliefs were starting to be discarded by the priesthood, and Aurora was considered more of a saint than a goddess. Aurora's goddess status was restored in the new Theros Empire, albeit as a minor deity to make way for the new Theros Pantheon that gave Emperor Reim his power.
