Description
Featuring Overseer Rasiel and Angelyn the Holy Prophet (NPC)
Late Summer, Year 2004 of the Dragon Era
Northern Plains, Kitskeeper Territory
NOTE: The removal of the Kitskeeper Clan was a moderator decision due to multiple issues with the Kitskeeper clan.
The tom knew this was part of his job, his duty. When resources and land were limited, it had to be fairly divided amongst the different clans and families. However, as a Patriarch himself, it was a bit odd to pull Overseer rank over another major clan like this.
Kitskeeper had to go.
Rasiel had never liked that sorry excuse of a clan. No. They didn’t deserve the title of a clan. A clan protected their own, a clan treated each other like family. It had long since Angelyn and the ruling Kitskeepers ever cared for anything other than gold and fancy precious stones.
Just thinking of the Kitskeepers brewed anger inside the small tom. Stopping in his trek across the planes, Rasiel took a deep breath. He had to calm down. At least now he finally had a reason to take the Kitskeepers down. Their numbers had, rather unsurprisingly, dwindled. Sold too many of them to slavery. They now had an excess of territory, while other clans and families were running short of hunting grounds.
“Tell Angelyn I need to talk to her.”
Rasiel had nothing against folk being well-groomed. Yet, seeing all these queens and toms strutting around pretending to be the perfect image of a nombeko pained him. Ascension… what a load of bullshit. Their so-called Holy Prophet was simply grooming them to be perfect slaves.
“Overseer Rasiel? To what do we owe the honour? Shall we go talk somewhere private? Discussions about the gods should be kept behind close doors, after all.”
“I’ll cut to the chase, Angelyn-”
“It's Holy Prophet Angelyn-”
“No, not anymore.” Rasiel cut the queen off, “Angelyn, I’ve come to inform you that Kitskeeper is to be disbanded.” The Overseer could see Angelyn gearing up to argue back, any watching clan member’s mouth hanging open in shock. “Your numbers have dwindled, the Kitskeepers no longer need the right to sole claim over these hunting grounds. Any former Kitskeepers may come with me to Reed Clan, where we’ll keep them housed, fed, and safe until they decide what they’d like to do next.”
“You have no right to do this, Rasiel! We have a duty to the gods to ascend! To help protect and define the ideal Nombeko!”
“To the gods?” Rasiel scoffed. “You can’t trick me. There are no gods, you are simply selling off your own clanmates to slavery for personal gain! I hope the gold was worth it because you are henceforth banished from the Warren.”
“What!?”
“Pack your belongings and leave, Angelyn, or stay and be executed for black market selling of Nombeken lives. I am giving you a chance to live, but do not push your luck or my generosity.”
Rasiel sighed softly, letting his words sink into the matriarch and watching clansmen. “I will be back tomorrow morning with some Reed Clan members to escort your people to our dens. And I hope, for your sake, that I do not catch sight of you.”
