Description
A few days ago somebody asked who I'd cast for a live-action TF2 movie or TV show. I said Netflix-exclusive black comedy/action that focuses a little more on the administrative team than the mercs due to budget and scheduling. It eventually gets cancelled after Season 1 because all the actors are busy with shit and Valve didn't want to invest the budget into a Season 2, also because the Portal series that also got made around the same time in this hypothetical scenario was more popular. Here's my TF2 fancast:
- Cristine Rose as The Administrator/Helen
- Alison Brie as Miss Pauling
- Bryan Batt as Mr. Reddy
- Nathan Darrow as Mr. Bidwell
- Tom Selleck as Saxton Hale (would’ve picked more recent actor but bodybuilding days’ resemblance 2stronk)
- Aaron Tveit as The Scout
- Dave Batista as The Heavy
- Christoph Waltz as The Medic
- Robbie Gee as The Demoman
- Will Arnett as The Soldier (might need to put on more muscle)
- Raphael Sbarge as The Engineer (might need to shave head)
- Vincent Cassel as The Spy
- Hugh Laurie as The Sniper
- Everybody and their mom as The Pyro, suit is baggy enough to pass off every 5′ or so person as a recurring joke
I wrote the whole screenplay in episodic synopsis format for Season One. Complete with RP-blog style faceclaim GIFs.

Also a very good choice! I picked Batista due to seeing his role as Drax as very much Heavy, as well as the Heavy/Medic actor duo joke since Waltz and Batista were both villains in Spectre.

It's a popular fancast choice and I can see why. He sold me when I watched Inglourious Basterds. Just perfect balance of humour, sociopathy and seriousness for a villain. Actors with theatrical training know their shit.

I think it helps the authenticity of the German side. I'm not sure how good everybody's German was but it certainly helped make things believable for me. It's jarring when people talk English to each other in a non-English speaking region or between actors who have a common first language that isn't English; Tarzan is the best example I can think of where it was confusing to me for a long time why the apes didn't just speak English to Jane's people if they knew how to speak English. As it would turn out, the English we saw Tarzan speaking to the apes and animals with was animal language translated to English for the viewers.

yees!! I love that kinda stuff, I'm also very sure the actors who spoke German in Inglourious Basterds were German actors because there was no accent at all when they spoke in their language! I'm just really glad that some actually stick to using the language the character is supposed to talk and adding translated subtitles because it's a lot more convincing than having everyone speak the same language

Oh man, that's perfect. I love Tom Selleck. Granted I've only seen him on Blue Bloods but still. Great actor.

You should do some Googling of his bodybuilding days and when he was on Magnum P.I, that's what I based the cast off of. I would have picked a younger actor but Selleck is just too perfect for Hale.

It would get canceled after season 2 actually. Only that season 2 would be teased a while after the end of season 1, and then you'd wait 7 years for it. Then no word of a season 3 but the whole thing is left on a cliffhanger. Perfect casting!

I'm not gonna lie, that'd be a considerable choice if I wasn't sold on her being more of a Pauling-type than a Helen-type. Alien pretty much has her kicking so much ass and doing a lot more work than just giving orders.
