Description
Karnator was built in around nine months stretched out over two and a half years. I started in February of 2005 and the main structure (short of a head and left forearm) was done in around 5 months. Construction was brought to a halt when I ran out of parts and had to focus on finding steel and stockpiling enough to finish him. By March of 2007, when I'd resigned from my job at the time, I had not only enough parts to complete him but also the time and energy to actually build. The final screw was tightened around 3am on the 3rd of July 2007.

BUILDING TIME:
4 - 18 hours/day, most days of the week for nine months
Total: > 1,500 hours
(When the construction was flowing well, I'd often have all-nighters or just have short naps on the couch to avoid wasting valuable building time on eccentricities such as sleep)

MATERIALS:
At least $2000 worth of screws, bolts, nuts & washers - 95% stainless steel, 5% chrome plated.
A quantity of steel that took me around three years to accumulate.

Constructed with various types of metal obtained from computers, photocopiers, typewriters, sewing machines, and other such machinery.
All parts are used in their original form with no physical alteration, secured with stainless steel fasteners only through existing connection points.
