Description This baby garter thinks he can swallow this toad. Not quite.

It took a bit of doing to get them apart.

Fortunately the toad was unharmed.

EDIT: Making this available in prints and as a coffee mug... so I changed the name to SNACK ATTACK.

Yeah, I've had to pry snake jaws off of people. Even though they are small, it is still easier said than done.

It reminds me of a chihuahua when they bark at like say a Great Dane. They think they're so intimidating and scary to that big ol dog and don't realize how tiny they are! lol

UffdaGreg In reply to easybeeze [2007-08-13 19:18:45 +0000 UTC]

I so agree!! lol But in the case of this snake... he will eventually be big enough one day to do some damage.

It's a very amusing shot, and I'm very glad that the toad was okay.
(Great title, by the by - and I think it'd make an excellent coffee mug.)

Actually the toad was none the worse for wear. Didn't feel a thing. Baby snake was too tiny and the toad just hopped off. Actually one time the toad literally sat on the snake's head and the little snake couldn't do a thing about it until the toad hopped again.

Wow! This made me laugh! The little garter up against the toad! Hehehehehe, very nice shot! I like it! I wonder what the snake was thinking?! Maybe it's vision is imparied so it thought the toad was only small. Or maybe it's a little up it's self?

UffdaGreg In reply to fresvik [2006-09-23 18:04:25 +0000 UTC]

Don't feel sorry for the toad. He sat on the snake's head. Neither were worse for wear.

They were on my 'studio' cardboard for a time of picture taking and I grouped them in two's because I've got a children's book I'm working on dealing with snakes, frogs and toads. The snake got angry and bit the toad. I separated them and let them go their separate ways.
