Gordon scoffed, "So the Fat Controller brings in a yank to oversee us? We might as well handle ourselves. We'd probably do just as well!"

Then without warning a black diesel surged through the station, its face a perpetual scowl and with the markings of the British army on it.

It said nothing but continued on like a hunting hound on the scent of prey.

Gordon shook, "What in blazes was that?"

Thomas looked at him, "I saw him being offloaded at Tidmouth yesterday. I call him Diesel 10, tenth troublesome diesel we've had you see. British army property."

Gordon recovered and said "Perhaps this Mr. Conductor will be a welcome addition for the time being." Thomas could only agree with the sentiment.
