Architecturally, Berlin is an odd mix. Not surprising really as one side was completely cut off from the other up until little over a decade ago by a wall! Beautiful, ornate buildings rub shoulders with bland, 70s concrete apartment blocks. The former Soviet influence is very much in evidence here at Alexanderplatz but Berlin has since embraced capitalism with its thriving tourism industry. The Bourne Identity, starring Matt Damon was largely filmed here. In fact, Mr Damon stood under the very clock you see. I just got there 6 months too late!
