Experiment 1.2.2 *** Please view full size ***I'm putting this in Scraps for a number of reasons.....
This is one of the images removed from my Elfwood gallery by the ERB. Their reason for it's removal was sent in an email as follows:
Reason: (48) Item quality not acceptable. Please either upload a better scan of the picture or crop or clean the picture according to the quality rules. This work is now queued for automatic removal.
Regarding: experiment1221k.jpg
This needs cropping at the bottom, so you can't see the paperedge.
In the future, please refer to the Elfwood Rules
and Regulations if you are unsure as to what may
or may not go onto your member page.
This upload is EXACTLY the same as was uploaded to Elfwood
As a result of the removal I have lost all the comments (messages) and all the page-view records for this image.
The original text that went with the pic was as follows:
I hate to say that it was inevitable! Me! Doing stuff with colours?!? I ask you!! PIGMENT!!!???
It's not that I feel inhibited by graphite, in fact I find the challenge all the better for not having colour in my creative world. I don't feel deprived at all and colour has always given me problems........ So wot is this need to........ Yeurgh!! Paint!!!!!!!????????
Maybe it's a natural progression.... some kind of transitional thing?? I was looking at some of Steph Law's watercolours, and along with admiration and awe, I suppose there was a slight jealousy....... though I know I'll never be in the same league as Steph, I actually went out and baught a book on "Watercolour Fairies" with a number of Steph's wonderful paintings as illustrations.
This painting, and those that follow, were not meant to be 'finished' or 'real' paintings and at the time I was just going to experiment and see what happened.
Experiment 1.1 went into the bin...... it was dire ;^( I use what I call a 'Splosh'n'Skribble' technique. I first have a vague outline of what I want, I then load the paper up with different splodges of hue and then when it has all dried out I draw the detail onto the paint with pencil and .........you get what you see below (above?).
If this picture gets enough interest then I may transfer it to my main DA gallery??

I love the pic. I think that for the great detail of the whole of the pic the wings are a bit, simple. I see nothing wrong with color choice. And the quality of the scan adds to the wonderfulness of the pic.

Although this picture is good, I think my biggest issue is the fact it is extremely yellow in tonal value which is overall distracting from the skill in the image.
The colour saturation is also bold but overdone slightly (it made me want to turn the reds up on my monitor) although this may just be because I prefer my work to be desaturated so ignore me LOL
