Description
Nessie’s Tree is a plant that I actually put in the background of that scene I made for the giant fliers day.Tree equivalents have evolved numerous times on Earth separately from one another, so it’s no surprise that such an event would occur on another planet as well. Nessie’s Tree is Gliese 667 Cc’s example of this. Their name comes from the fact that some of their roots arch out of the ground and curve back in, similar to a sea serpent or some depictions of the Loch Ness monster. The reason for this isn’t entirely known. It could be for further photosynthesis, or their roots might be what absorbs carbon dioxide. They reproduce asexually in a similar fashion to some trees on Earth, where they branch off part of themselves and a new “individual” sprouts. But technically, they’re still the same organism, so entire forests of them can be just a few individuals.
