Another EARLY WORK ALERT! This one is for a series I pencilled, again for Eternity Comics, called Empire circa 1988 just after Bloodwing. Now, this one had misguided ambition and a weird dogs breakfast of artistic directions, few of which made any kind of sense or landed with authority and that dear readers is on me. I did get massacred for the most part by my inkers - backgrounds disappearing, characters redrawn etc - and as for storytelling I'm not actually sure wtf I was thinking but there we found ourselves. The endless novelty and sequential play for its own sake was very much of the time and really quite awful upon reflection. A sign of a young insecure creator. Anyway, I thought it deserved a more mature retcon as there were a few ideas worth exploring in this cyber-feudal aesthetic that doesn't totally ape Warhammer. Take it all with a grain of salt and fun, but as you can see there was a lot of heavy page count off the top that was entirely over bloated. The story is about crown prince Morgan - always a Timothy Chalomet type so I just leaned into it - and his manservant guardian Beckett as they try to unite the galaxy during upheaval and power plays as multiple well armed and financed factions battle for supremacy. Hope you enjoy!
