L: original colors, looks like DayGlo ones, R: the same colors, mirrored, Alien mapped in the GIMP. Not only does the gray background make bright colors stand out rather dramatically, the AM also tend to create these lovely "off" colors, like those of the third grade clothing found in low-end mass consumption stores. Many of the coolest colors found in my 'work' were created by the Alien map. Either that or by making good use of layer opacity.
